CRT DIY Mod

I got an old Lifetec (Medion brand ) CRT TV for my A1200. Its only a pretty basic 21" model though does have a Samsung branded tube. The problem I had was edge
distortion caused by poorly shielded speakers. I finally got around to opening it up and modding the speakers with some extra (d.i.y) shielding. Just some sticky back foam strips with tin foil sandwiched in between. All made from 'stuff' knocking about the house. Worked a treat! No need for expensive magnetic shielding.

Pretty decent picture (for a cheap TV) and perfect size for a bit of classic gaming.

I'm surprised that works. What kind of foil did you exactly use?
I would expect you'd need something like mu-metal to shield the magnetic field of the speaker magnet.

But great that it worked! Nothing beats a CRT for some classic gaming.

I was thinking the same, my stock of HDD magnets have thier mu-metal shields with them, 8Kg of Neodymium is quite the magnet!

CRT rules for older systems, Treat your Amiga if you have the space, dump the TV speakers and use some small external speakers and amplifier

Just standard tin foil! I read lots of ideas on A/V forums and this seemed the most straight foward...... and cheap not 100% sure where the sticky backed foam came from, I just found it in our junk draw.
