2. Open the "Image dimension" settings by choosing "Image Load" in the "Settings" menu. Here set Height to 200 and Depth to 4. Click "Done" and choose any screen mode you like.
3. Load the image (Project->Load Image) and PicCon will load the image with your selected settings and show it.
Got it.
The main problem was that I was going blind at it, not knowing the original image's properties. Now I have a better idea of what I am dealing with, and I can also take a lot of info from my original IFF files.

It was just very confusing to have "Load Image" and "Open Picture", and also to have another "Load Image" in Settings.

Thanks again!

I agree, it's not really intuitive. But once you know the difference it makes sense. PicCon has been my weapon of choice for more than 2 decades, it's a great tool which allows to do things very fast.

I just know GfxMaster works well for me

No problem (and definitely no need to apologise), the more tools mentioned the better. Choice is always good.

It seems like a solid piece of work, simple and sturdy, just how I like my apps.

Indeed, I hope this thread with me failing a lot helps someone else looking this up in the future. The more the merrier!

Personally i don't use a program to convert iff pictures to raw. I use the build in inciff feature of AsmPro, and inciffp to import the palette. For a brush/bob i just save a brush in deluxe paint, and use Inciff to import to raw.

Saves me one step in the process.

Another good point for ASM Pro, which I will probably use in the future (because I am convinced it's the better software package), but this project is in Devpac so I have to suffer Devpac :P

Well, it's not too hard to convert/assemble Devpac sources with ASM-One/Pro. Be aware that IncIFF doesn't work 100% reliable though, it's a nifty feature but you'll still need graphics converters.

I'm not at the point where I would even dare risk converting this to ASM Pro, also don't think it would make much sense, but anything I start from scratch from now on will probably be done in ASM Pro.

I'm fine with graphic converters anyway, and PicCon has proved to be very good.

It's important to keep at it though, keep training and learning new things, like I have here. And not be afraid of asking lame questions. Look at me, I am the ultimate lamer

By the way, regarding your picture question, it's not asm68k related but may help calculate a picture depth (even if I am sure that plenty Amiga apps can calculate picture depth )

ReqHack doesn't seem to be on the file server. Did a search for it.
