AmigaDOS 1.3 Scripting Language

Hi goes.

Does any one have any information on creating .bat like scripts for AmigaDos 1.3. I see there are a few articles on Amiga World year 88.

I don't have my book that came with my A500, it's in New Zealand at my parents house.

If possible only AmigaDOS 1.3.

TIA

Hi redblade,

just create a textfile with the commands you want to use in there and use 'execute <name of textfile>' to run it. Here's a little example of a shell script : http://99-bottles-of-beer.net/langua...script-28.html It should work with 1.3.

When your script is finished and you are happy with it you can:

protect <name of textfile> +s

Then you can just type the name and don't have to type execute each time.

Yes, and even better: Programs like cygnused remember the files protection bits, so that when you load a script file with +s it will save the file with the same bit set.

It's interesting that the Amiga OS had a specific bit to tell that a file is a script. Now I'm going to edit some file attributes

Heres an aminet link to a guide that seems very good and extensive: AmigaDos for Beginners

This is not limited to 1.3, but most of it should aply to 1.3 as well. Note that this is in AmigaGuide format.

Heres a guide in text format: adosguide

You could try looking at a recent version of the AmigaDOS manual - should be floating around somewhere!
