escape codes in Requestchoice body text (OS3.x)

I'm trying to display part of the body text in requestchoice with escape code formatting (to change the text color/background color) but regardless if I use the escape char or *e to invoke the escape sequence it displays a dedicated inverse video ESC char in and the rest of the formatting in clear text instead.

Example formatting I have tried is ESC[47m and *E[47m where the former works if I put it in a text file and print it in shell, but both examples just result in ESC character beeing shown followed by [47m in requestchoice.

Is it possible at all to achieve this?
According to the https://wiki.amigaos.net it is possible, but the wiki is intended for OS4 according to its main page and I suspect not everything is applicable for OS3.1.

Quite sure that this is not possible. I also wish it was possible to specify that requestchoice body use fixed width font.
