Cheap CF solution for A3000?

Hi
Is there a cheap compact flash solution for an A3000 to replace HD SCSI?
Thanks

No.

Ok, I'll elaborate. You need a scsi -> ide adapter and an ide -> cf adapter or a scsi -> pcmcia adapter with a pcmcia -> cf adapter plugged in.

Both solutions usually cost three figures.

Might be cheaper to get an IDE Zorro controller instead and put the CF adaptor on that.

Perhaps, but the SCSIDE bridge is nice and low-cpu. :-)

I'd imagine one of those would be fine, yes. I used a Buddha/CatWeasal in my A2000 for IDE. Of course Jope is right about overheads

Most El'Cheapo and nice solution would be an SCSI-Multicard Reader which you can get here:
http://a4000t.com/store/index.php?ma...ex&cPath=65_79

Using other than that would require a SCSI-To-IDE bridge like the ACard 7220U which would cost more than that.

Dunno about the DMA thing (isn't that involved with the controller though, instead of the hard drive?) but I can tell you for sure that this drive can boot just fine with a CF that I tried and a PCMCIA to CF adapter as well on my A4000 mounted on my CSPPC's UWSCSI bus (via an 68pin to 50pin adapter).
Speed isn't it's the best (getting ~2.7MB/s) but at this price, you can't ask for more

An Acard has most of times double the price of this SCSI adapter.

There is a yamaha scsi-ide adapter going for €40 on amibay.
Not all cf cards work with this adapter though, but that might be true with other adapters as well.

A IDE-cf adapter is a couple euros on eBay.

That SCSI card reader from MechWare is really good, I've bought one myself and used it in an A2000, boots fine and you can mount five different cards at once if you get one of each type.
