Project64 is quite good at emulating games and you get info about the problems (if there are any) on the game list. For some games you might need some additional plugins, but there are nice packs of them out there

I think development has been pretty dead for a few years. Everything was *just about* working last time I checked.

Unfortunately different emulators / plugins have better results in different games which means you often have to mix and match. There was no ultimate emulator / plugin combo.

Rather than getting emulation spot on, developers went off at a tangent to make the games that worked look better with high-resolution texture packs for games.

Nintendo 64

Well im a fairly large fan of the N64, i own a lot of products related to it, so i was wondering if anyone else here liked the N64, and perhaps has any good ideas of what games i should get for it?

I have a ton of games already, too many to post tonight, i'll make a list of all my stuff and post it here in the morning.

Games I Enjoyed on the N64 (no particular order)

Pilot Wings
Lylat Wars
Turrok Dinosaur Hunter
Wave Racer
Mario Kart 64
Golden Eye
Mario Golf
StarCraft 64 (PC was spankinly better, but still a good game)
DooM64 (perhaps the Best Doom bar GL-DooM)

Theres loads of others that have escaped me at the moment.... contrary to most I found the N64 renditions of Zelda quite boring to be honest thinking back on it.

I have to say that some of the N64 games run really well on the Wii using the official Nintendo N64 emulator.

There are official emulations of a few great N64 games

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._Wii_Points.29

And you can perform ROM injection of a few more titles not officially supported.

As regards to the emulation post back in February.

Project 64 will run pretty much every N64 game perfectly, provided your PC is powerful enough, my Dual core, 2GB of RAM, 512mb GFX PC runs every game at a solid 50FPS, with the exception of a few intensive games, a couple of minigames in the Mario Party series tend to slow it a little.

For netplay Look for Mupen64+ That has in-built kaillera, which lets you play 4 player games over the internet, also Project64K has in-built kaillera but i think the Mupen64+ one is slightly better.

Currently i've only managved to play Mario Party 2 succesfully on a network, all the other games seem to crash at some point, smash brothers let me in the game, but it crashed after about 3 seconds of fighting.

Mupen64++ is the only emulator currently being updated i believe. It is a spin-off of Mupen64+, its probably the best emulator out there, but it lacks netplay, although it is a planned feature.

Ok heres my list of N64 stuff:

CONSOLES AND ACCESSORIES:
N64 Console - Gray, With Expansion Pak
N64 Console - Gray, With Jumper Pak
3 Official N64 Controllers
1 Pro Competition Turbo Controller
1 Mako Pad
1 Transfer Pak
2 256KB Memory Cards
1 Spare Jumper Pak
2 Ariel cables for N64
1 SCART cable for N64

GAMES:

Diddy Kong Racing - Cart Only
Top Gear Overdrive - Cart Only
Super Mario 64 - Cart Only
Lylat Wars (Star Fox 64) - Cart Only
Wave Race 64 - Complete with Box and Manual
V-Rally 99 - Cart Only
Donkey Kong 64 - Cart and Manual Only
Mario Kart 64 - Cart and Manual Only
Mario Party 2 - Cart Only
Rayman 2 - Cart Only
F-Zero-X - Cart Only
Top Gear Rally - Cart Only
The New Tetris - Cart Only
Tetrisphere - Cart Only
F1 World GP - Cart Only
Wetrix - Cart Only

Re-volt - Complete with Box and Manual
Knife Edge Nose Gunner - Complete with Box and Manual

The first game I think about when speaking of the N64 is Goldeneye, best played with 4 people late at night

A more leftfield choice is Silicon Space Station Valley, a totally bonkers 3d puzzle adventure title which I enjoyed.

Which plugins are you using (including version numbers)? I used the latest build (1.7.0.49) of the emulator with the latest build of all the plugins (Jabo D3D8 Video 1.7.0.56, Jabo Direct Sound 1.7.0.4 and Jabo Direct Input 1.7.0.2) and I always got shader / combiner glitches in quite a few games which while not making the game un-playable certainly detracted from the overall feel.

If you have a different set of plugin's to try then I'll have another go again tonight.

Perhaps your definition of "perfectly" and mine differ?

Mmm well the games i played on it worked fine, aside from Mario Party 2 had screen flickers when on the board map, but was fine in minigames, and i found a video plugin that worked anyway, i believe that was Mupen64++ with the flickering issues however.

I'll redownload PJ64 and post what things i use, and a few games i tried with it.

Well i don't donate to it, so i use 1.6. I have PJ64 1.6 and all the plugins are Jabo 1.6 as well. I seem to be able to run most things fine.

If you gave me an example of a game that has issues, i could test it and see if mine has the same problems.

Is there any emulator (except Wii Virtual Console) that accurately emulates the sun (and its lighting effects) in Ocarina of Time?

It looked pretty impressive on the N64 while it was broken on all the emulators I've tried it (UltraHLE, Mupen, I think even on the Gamecube Wind Waker bonus disk with OoT the sun wasn't correctly emulated).

UltraHLE is a fairly poor N64 emulator, Mupen is good, but PJ64 is definitely the best at the moment, although i havent tried many with Mupen64++ which may be better now.
