I have just launched both version side by side. The genesis is good for playability, the rest,
ahem..... The gfx is made of 8x8 tiles, which makes the gfx quite bad.... and the amiga version has aged very well, aside this genesis port which seems older than it is really.

Hey well it's easy, why not making the level maps for each version, arcade, genesis and amiga, then compare.

I was really disappointed by the Amiga version of Golden Axe. Not because of the graphics but mainly because of horrible controls.

Amiga version doesn't play like the Arcade version, try to jump and strike the enemies,it's impossible,to make matters worse that's the best attack in the Arcade

It's possible, but since we have only one button, it behaves differently.
BUT you can move left or right when in the air ! Fire + up then moving the directionnal pad.

Amiga version is easier than the arcade. I played GA Amiga till the end without getting a SINGLE hit on my character . Now try that in the arcade version...

And on the MD The Amiga version is not bad, but the MD version is more like the coin up in terms of gameplay/controls. But then again I should try the 2 button version on the miggy

i guess the best thing would be for a jump-button patch for the whdload slave, totaling 3 buttons in all (fire, magic and jump)

given that the slave already does cd32 controls, i cant see this being impossible, possibly not even that difficult. i guess it's up to Psygore. or maybe he wants to pass it on to someone else to do....

of course, such an option would need to be custom-tooltyped to keep the purists happy

edit: back on topic; i'm with dlfrsilver on this one, though i dont care enough for the game to rank the versions properly.

should this thread be polled, Genesis/Amiga (since Arcade is clearly "the best")?
