Samantha Fox f'd up my printer ribbon

It was most likely summer '89 when I had my first summerjob, and when I got the first pay on some Friday I went to buy a printer. Commodore MPS1230 that was. It cost about 100% of my pay, but didn't care. Sure my mother cared a bit more.

I had already downloaded a graphics printing program (more on that in this thread) so after I got it installed and some test prints done, it was time to print some Samantha Fox pictures etc and how great was that!

Like I mention in the thread linked above, this printing program used only one needle to make best possible quality. Well, what do you think happens to the ribbon when you print and print and print with just one needle? Yep, the ribbon was torn in half very quickly.

On Monday I had to borrow money from a friend to get a new ribbon. The hilarious (?) moment was when I went to the same shop to get a new ribbon. The salesperson didn't want to sell me one because he remembered it was just 3 days ago when I bought the whole thing and it just couldn't be 'empty' that quick :-D

Didn't tell him about Samantha, just insisted to get a new ribbon which I then didn't. No more Samanthas after that :-D

I hated dot matrix printers and I am happy they are long gone. I had Star LC-20 and that noise was super annoying.

I think I still have dot matrix printer noise back in my head.... or is just some other friend there... who knows...

It was supper annoying, especially @ work when every morning they insisted to print 500 pages report. It was funny to watch tracker feed page after page and report slowly sorting in tray.

Guess what was first major upgrade we did once I got in IT.

Considering how lucky PDrill was trying to print Fox's (. )( .)... what if he tried to print someone else that has more pointy .... that/those... ?!

That needle would not survive first picture.

I had the 803 if I recall correctly? Never really use it for school but I did a lot of digital art with koala paint and printed out a lot of my images. I just found them a couple of months back in an old baby book.
