What do you do with your classic Amiga?

So I have a nice A500 and A1200, both have been treated with retrobright. They're lovely. I fire them up once every few weeks using Amigamaniac's RGB->SVideo adapter on my plasma 42 inch TV. I play a game for an hour or so on each machine, then pack the units away again out of the sun and cover them with a towel to avoid dust build up.

I've just purchased an Amiga 2000 and it's being shipped to me next week. And you know what I'll do with it - I'll play a game every few weeks and put it away again.

But apart from switching the Amiga on every so often and playing a game, what do you do with your classic Amiga's? What can you do with a classic Amiga??

I also have an A500+ and an A1200 as "main" Amigas, both look nice but I would not care if they didnĀ“t. They are just used, not being watched at. They are "game-machines". Some time ago I played mp3s and AVIs with the A1200....but only because it was able to play them....not because it would have made any sense...

My A600 is for partying (Amiga gaming parties).
My A500s and CD32 are almost without any use for the most of the year

Well since I just got my A600 i'm still at the novelty stage and since I've been off work this last two weeks its seen lots of use

With the rom switcher I've been playing some WHDLoad games off the CF card and also in 1.3 mode some of those old floppy's that have been boxed away for the last 8 years!

My A1200 which has the 030 and SCSI lives in my lounge, it makes a nice talking point, I have it set up in a little alcove under the stairs behind the sofa which is a perfect use of otherwise wasted space. I keep dust covers on to keep it clean and the unit slides under the desk. I play WHDLoad games, CD Games through my SCSI CD Rom and also Speccy and SMS emulators, I particually enjoy the speccy emulation as its as near to the real thing as I can get, i.e a proper Joystick and displayed on a proper TV set

Prior to the new arrival the A1200 was seeing daily use

Good Times.

Steve.

I would buy an A1200/040... but I fear I will not use it...

EDIT: I dream: Amiga1200, Apollo 1240 @40mhz, 64mb, 4GB CF as hard disk, PCMCIA SD Card Reader ...

Currently only programming and games, but until 2005 it was my main machine, so a few years ago I used it for everything.

played our amiga 2000 recently. It still works after 15-20 years. Crazy.

used it to confirm that jumping in last ninja is annoying. also checked out dithering in chaos engine (it disappears on crt monitors).

This.

Do it every so often - should fire up the Miggy more frequently.
