ACA 1230/28 RTC question
My a1200 has recently forgotten how to keep the time. When investigating my 1230/28 for a replacement battery type I noticed the RTC chip is missing two pins!
I bought the unit with RTC fitted from amigakit. Is this normal or do I have a broken chip? Picture http://i.imgur.com/AUC5Yvf.jpg |

I don't have that accelerator, but I had a look at the clock chip's datasheet. Those pins appear to be for connecting a crystal, but the chip also has its own internal crystal oscillator. So I guess it shouldn't be a problem that those pins are missing if the design relies on the internal oscillator. Perhaps they have been removed on purpose so that they don't pick up any unwanted signals. Maybe someone else can verify this.

@chocolateboy
On mine all the pins are there. Bought the card and the chip at vesalia. Edit: The card and the RTC-chip were sold seperately. Last edited by Mozzerfan; 22 October 2013 at 18:25. |
