There's problems with disk 2 of Melnok's crack of Leander.

Code:
Name:
Leander (1991)(Psygnosis)(Disk 2 of 3)[cr Melnok][t +1 Melnok].adf
Size:
901120
CRC32:
53bd9111
MD5:
a1d34f0d28d0d88307d18679a7c572d7
SHA1:
3cd08e36f64b9524de6deb974d444e1b3c527809
Amiga gurus after inserting and loading disk 2.
Compared to other cracks it's also a lot smaller when compressed, looks like a bad dump to me.

Game: Oxyd
Cracker: SKR
Trainer: n/a
Files & CRC/MD5:
Oxyd (1992)(dongleware)(m3)[cr skr].adf
Notes:
Because of the crack, who eliminates all magic tokens, lvl 39 can't be completed. There's a magic token in the upper part of the lvl, which blocks a laser. If the magic token is destroyed, the laser hits the button and the door is forever closed. No chance of completing this lvl.

Bump n burn (1994)(grandslam)[cr psg](disk 6 of 6)-amiga

Notes: Graphics corruption and flickering during game. Example of graphics corruption: When playing as "Colonel Carnage", going up onto banking of a corner results in total graphics corruption of the player sprite. This is occurring on a real A500 with KS3.1, 512KB CHIP, PAL mode. Problem disks are likely either disk 1 or 3 since to get to the game as Colonel Carnage, the only disks that get accessed are those two.

If my .DMS file of disk 2 of Leander was done by Melnok, the file size looks reasonable. I'll check it out and get back to ya.

Game: Brutal Sports Football
Cracker: Crystal
Trainer: n/a
Files:
Brutal football (1994)(millennium)(disk 1 of 2)[cr]-amiga
Brutal football (1994)(millennium)(disk 2 of 2)-amiga
Brutal football (1994)(millennium)[cr csl](disk 1 of 2)-amiga
Brutal football (1994)(millennium)[cr csl](disk 2 of 2)-amiga

Graphics corruption during game. Reproducable by playing an "unfriendly" game and within 2 minutes of play, the graphics will become totally corrupted and not recover. This is occurring on a stock A500, 512KB CHIP, 512KB trapdoor RAM, 8MB expanded RAM, KS 3.1, NTSC.

You have to do some more investigation.
I dont think, that this disks are badly cracked, more than likely this original game has no protection.
I think it has rather to do with incompability with some configurations.

What further testing would you like me to do?

I can run it on 1.3, PAL, disconnect my HD and remove the 8MB expanded RAM, and run it on my A3000.

The A500 I was running this on is a real machine, not WinUAE.

now, incompability or bad crack?
I am also not able to reproduce this graphics corruption with your above mentioned configuration.

So, you're able to play a full unfriendly game against the computer with no graphics issues on a mostly-stock, physical A500, or are you playing through WinUAE?

OK, I'm not using WinUAE, I'm using actual hardware.

I can go home tonight and test it under KS 1.3, PAL, without expansion RAM, and can also test it on my real A3000D and see what results I get.

Being a game done in 1994, I'd be surprised if it's incompatible with Kickstart 3.1 and judging by the screen dimensions, it appears to be NTSC, but I could be wrong on that.

If I am able to replicate the issue, I will take photos of the graphics corruption so you can see. Both sets of disks that I gave the filenames for gave me the same results.

check the available IPFs, if this images have the same issue.
anyway,
Brutal Football (1994)(Millennium)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr]
Brutal Football (1994)(Millennium)[cr CSL](Disk 2 of 2)
are exact copies of originals(IPFs), so no crack.

...i still dont think, that the mentioned graphic corruptions are crack related.

What software do you recommend to write those back to floppy?

And you're saying that those two disks are identical to known original images?

indeed,
by the way, WHDLoad info, says nothing about removing protection, also crack intro by "CSL" says released, not cracked.
so i am almost certainly, that this game has no protection.

Most probably broken images. The game is unprotected.

Fair enough, where can I get the IPF's to try out? Are they on the FTP?

as i wrote:

Brutal Football (1994)(Millennium)[cr CSL](Disk 2 of 2)
are the IPFs in ADF form.
IPFs are not allowed in this forum.

or look in the zone for original copies of IPF.

The plot thickens...
OK, I downloaded the two disks you told me to from the FTP and wrote them to floppy. When I booted disk 1 in my A500, this version is clearly PAL because there was a thick black gap at the top of the screen and the title splash screen extended below the physical bottom of the monitor. Unfortunately, I didn't get beyond this screen because the game locked up. I booted the disk with Kickstart 1.3 (first attempt was 3.1) and got the same results. I then tried KS 1.3 in PAL mode and got past the title screen to the game type selection screen. I rebooted with KS 3.1 and PAL and also was able to get to this point. I then chose an "unfriendly" game, took the default team for my side, chose Novice A controls, let the computer choose its team and then chose a single match. The VS. screen then came up and waited for me to click the fire button on my joystick. The screen faded to black and then the machine GURU'ed.

I got the same results repeating this with all the disk 2's on the site, except for the [a2] copy which actually got me into the game. I played the game for about 4 minutes before the graphics corrupted (see attachment). What could be causing this? Do I have bad RAM or something?

I tried to test this combination of discs on my A3000, but I could not get it to kick into PAL mode, so it kept locking up at the title screen.

Edit: I booted up the original copies of this game that I started with on my A3000 and was able to play through a full match. This clearly seems to mean that I do have a problem with my A500.

Edit 2: I booted up the Crystal release of this game on another A500 I have with a PAL mainboard instead of NTSC and the game played successfully. I definitely have a problem with the A500 I was originally using. The crack/release is good after all. Sorry to have wasted bandwidth on this.
