Adding more fonts to Deluxe Paint IV

How do I do this?

Using WinUAE I tried manually adding fonts from the Workbench Fonts disk into the Fonts folder of DPaint but "ran out of disk space". So I tried installing DPaint DH0 I have mounted to C:\Amiga. This worked and then I copied all the Workbench fonts into the Fonts folder in the installed DPaint.

When I run DPaint from DH0 it errors asking me to insert volume DpaintIV.
Then it crashes saying it can't find fonts....!?!

Scrapping that I ran DPaint from the ADF without DH0 or Workbench. When right clicking the font icon there is only Topaz and DPaint fonts in the list (because that's all the fonts on the "disk") - however there's a "Drawer" field where you can, presumably set an alternative folder to grab fonts from. I've tried entering various directories in there in the hope it'll pick up the fonts on the Workbench fonts disk but can't get that to work, I don't think I'm entering it correctly. Doesn't help when \ does not appear to be anywhere on the keyboard (I get a > in DPaint when I press \ on my keyboard).

you can type the path in the DPaint requester like I did in the attached image.
dpaint4 indeed is a bit picky about fonts, compared to dpaint5.
i only get a small part of fonts listed, compared to dpaint5 - i cannot say, which fonts it wants.

#1) I uploaded my SYS:Fonts ( sys: is always the boot device ) into the zone.
Join the Zone group, you will find the link to the Zone next to the Logout button.
donwload Fonts-Folder.lha and replace your dh0:fonts folder with the one inside the lha-archive.
lha archives you can extract using winrar on windows machines.

#2) when you copied all the fonts, you did copy for example:
fonts-folder/topaz
fonts-folder/topaz/8
fonts-folder/topaz.font

next to "8" there can be more files / sizes of the fonts. but all three parts must be moved,
the topaz.fonts files has information about what is inside "topaz" folder.
without the .font file programs cannot use the font in question.

I'm no expert but I would say Predseda is talking about adding that line to DH0:S/Startup-Sequence file.

Example below:

it is easier within dpaint4, like on my screenshot, it does work this way.

rather s:user-startup than s:startup-sequence. But just for trial I would type it in CLI or just in menu/execute command before launching DPaint.

You can't assign a directory to a directory.

Thanks all, this is great. So damn annoying only having the basic fonts to play with. I'm using DPaint in WinUAE to draw the graphics for a game I'm making in Fusion on PC. It's easier to get that authentic look!

By all means try out PPaint. It's got the same interface but is modernised, has better palette handling options and can save as GIF, BMP and PNG.

You can assign a volume to a directory or another volume, but not a directory to another directory.
