recommend a joystick/pad for winuae? newb.
Hello, i would love to be able to play with my friends and take a trip down memory lane to the days of homework vs amiga500
I've searched a lot, but every thread i find is about configurating buttons. I just want to know what joypads i should buy. my plan is to hook up a laptop with the tv. use winuae? and buy 4 cheap ps3 look-a-like joypads from ebay. Will they work with WinUae? Can you recommend some? i'm thinking something like these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-USB-Ga...item43a8d10c33 merry christmas |

nah they are terrible... feel nothing like a real ps2/ps3 controller
I would recommend a Wired Xbox 360 pad, seems to be the most supported pad... I have one and.... http://www.playrepublic.co.uk/SPEEDL...ix_SL-6603-TWT and... http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nk...4968&_from=R40 most things are covered by that combination (all work in windows 7) |

Wireless xbox360 pad also works fine, at least in Windows.

I cannot help but issue a warning: The modern USB Competition Pro Joysticks from Speedlink have a lot of lag, which makes them basically unusable for any serious gaming. The Classic 9-pin Joysticks from Speedlink are ok, but require a 9-pin to USB adapter.
I use mostly two solutions for retrogaming: 1. USB Atari Retroport from retrousb.com with 9-pin Competition Pro joysticks. I have a few old ones from ebay and a few of the 9-pin "classic" models from Speedlink. 2. A Mayflash Super Dualbox Pro ( http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...en-70-qc3.html ) with Playstation controllers. Both PS1 and PS2 Controllers work, but I prefer the feel of PS1 controllers, where none of the buttons are analog. I got the drivers from the Mayflash site. It contains working Windows 7 drivers and Windows XP drivers. The Super Dualbox Pro works even with a NegCon controller, which is nice for driving games in Mame. For modern (analog stick) gaming, I use a wired Xbox360 controller. It has a very nice analog feel to it, which I like more than the analog sticks on Playstation controllers. |

Using Playstation controller or Xbox controller on Amiga games is really awful.
Thats what i'm currently using until i can get my hands on some real good retro controllers or a port converter so i can use my old amiga joysticks. Analog sticks are crap for joystick games or any games with finicky jumping. |

But the great SLS pads are sold out since ages. Don't buy the white "Play Sega" pads. They aren't nearly as good as the SLS pads in terms of quality.

Or get this cheap adapter. I got the Genesis version, and it works pretty good. No noticeable big lag.

I got this adapter from Amigakit. I think they can make it for you if you need it http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...oducts_id=1036

Take recommendations with a grain of salt. People will tend to suggest what they personally like, which obviously varies person to person.
For the most part they'll all work well so it just comes down to what you enjoy. In my opinion you're better off asking for things to avoid, and then just go for what you find comfortable. |

There is nothing wrong with to recommend some 9-pin Joystick to USB adapter. This is probably the best way to get the authentic feeling from the 80s/90s. Buy a stick/pad you remember fondly from that time and have fun.
