A1200 2Meg Slow and 4Meg Fast. Which one?

As stated in the Title I only have a total of 6Meg on my A1200 the main use of this machine is WHDLoad. (which my Soon to be Wife says I can finally REGISTER!) I chose lite because I was afraid to spend the mem. I could put it up to 8 but then I would be cutting off my NIC card. Is Scalos really worth it. I guess I'm just not to familliar with the benefits of it and what the differances between all these ClassicWBs are? If theres a web recource that really explains what packages are in what install and why you want what when please point me on my way . Thank you for your awesome work Bloodywych

I most likely would barely have WHDLoad install with out you.

G'day mate,

Start off with the lite version of ClassicWB, and if it works well (which indeed does) and you feel you should upgrade then do so and see how it goes. But be aware that when you make the "System.zip" file, that you must do it under WinUAE otherwise you will run into problems.... any problems, see what our dear friend leytond went through !!

Have fun & good luck !!

Thanks for using the packs Claw22000!

Well, if you check the hardware requirements page on the official ClassicWB site you'll see 6MB total memory is easily enough to run the ClassicWB FULL - plus the FULL has multiboot abilities to also run configurations using less RAM and ones just for WHDLoad. You do not require 10MB total ram.

The LITE is a very practical solution, but the FULL has some neat features. The easiest way to test is to run it in WinUAE and find out for yourself.

Well I really was looking more for whats the difference between the versions and where might I get information about why those differences actually are helpful and or fun.

Just put the big drive in today and installed it in WinUAE so its all pre-pimped out.

Why is it your preferred version though?

I'm not trying to get anyone on a rant or anything. Just wondering why one thing over another. There really isn't a lot of information on what all your options for WB 3.1 are. Hence why if it wasn't for Bloddywych's hard work people like me might never have even found a colored WB and still have that drab 2 tone no right click menu hav'n peice of $#!+.

I just wrote this in the other thread and it applies here too - the spec list went missing during the last install; it badly needed updating and re-organizing, but ended up on the "To Do" list, the one that never seems to get done! I did intend to list the features of the different versions, but I've simply never got around to it.

I enjoy working on the ClassicWB's from time to time, but the webpage is always slow progress.
