So did I
Though I'll defer to you on this one, no sense in making one of us pay more than they need to.

Actually, I'm torn, I need to replace the S3 ViRGE that's in there, since it has the worst output quality ever, and while a replacement S3 card would cost peanuts, I'm worried that the problem may lie in the chip, not the board. I thought that the Voodoo could only so 16 bit, but it turns out it does 24/32 in 2D mode, so it's suddenly become a much more attractive option... The other route I could take is a Permedia 2 based card, but the only PCI one I've ever found is a Diamond fireGL, which I have, but for some reason the drivers think it has twice as much RAM as it actually does, causing it to not display anything.

Not on this occasion, I usually wait until the end and snipe anyway, but it would be stupid if I were to bid knowing that there's someone else also bidding who doesn't just want a cheap graphics card for an old PC, as the end price will likely be higher, and I'd feel like a bit of a cad jumping on it at the last minute.

They come up often enough anyway, and there's no real urgency, My A4k is currently in many small pieces, awaiting the arrival of a hot air thing to do some motherboard repairs.

Following on from this, I need to get myself one, there are a couple coming up on ebay in the next few days, and I was wondering, what is the practical difference between the 2000 and 3000 versions of the card, for Amiga use, and given that I only care about 2D performance?

on amiga I think there is no or very small difference... I doubt amiga can really use the 100% of the card, the bottlenecks lie elsewhere...
maybe on g-rex busboards it make a difference...
