Causes system freeze on Windows 8 x64 [Solved]

Just downloaded it (v.2.2.2) but when I start it through the launcher (or run the .exe directly) Windows 8 x64 freezes instantly. AMD 5650, Intel Q9650, 4GB RAM.

FS-UAE is not supposed to be able to freeze the system, no matter what it does. It does not even run with administrative privileges. This does sound like a system / driver / hardware bug to me, since that's the only way Windows should be able to freeze.

I haven't really got any good ideas (except the usual make sure all drivers are updated, etc). Anyone else noticed similar issues?

I'm on Windows 8 64 bit here too and it works like a charm Maybe a problem with OpenGL? All that I could think of right now. Please post your FS-UAE.log.txt from 'C:\Users\<your user>\Documents\FS-UAE\Logs' wanderer

A prime suspect is the security software, I'll check with that too and post back tomorrow. Drivers shouldn't cause the problem, everything is in order. I downloaded the .zip (portable?) version, will I still find logs in C:\Users...? There were no log/txt files in the FS-UAE directory, but that's to be expected after a system freeze.

update: Antivirus/Firewall problem confirmed. With a system freeze, I should have known it's the first thing to check. I enabled its "auto-learn" feature, it automatically created a FS-UAE rule and problem solved.

Thanks for reporting back, I'll add it to the "possible conflict with other software" list (http://fs-uae.net/windows-notes) if you give me the name / version of the software

Outpost Security Suite Pro 8.0 (4164.639.1856). I am guessing users of Outpost Firewall will have the same problem. It's just a matter of enabling "Auto-Learn" mode just before running FS-UAE for the first time, and all will be fine.
