Problem with James Pond 2 : Robocod ADF

Hi Guys.

Yesterday i had a small problem while playing james pond 2 : robocod.
In the level with the Jelly pudding walls where you bounce up and down left to right with the floor walls i all of a sudden got stuck INTO the jelly.. and the jumping soundeffect went crazy.. was pretty scary i couldnt get out anymore.. i could only reset WinUAE..

Helpful response there... sounds like a bug in the game rather than a bug in WinUAE.

well he forgot to actually ask for any help, or if anyone had encountered it before and/or knew what the problem might be! just... "here's a bug that happened" ... which was nice

bugs like this can often crop up in games at random.... as said, either a bad crack, or a very difficult to reproduce bug in the game code.

Well i can only tell to try to play the game yourself at the Jelly levels and see if this happens to you as well on WinUAE?.. I can't tell if its a WinUAE or Gamebug

Nothing special, seen this in several games on real machines. I got stuck in Turrican (Alien World), after transforming into the wheel. Just saw some extras, turned into a small hideout and can't escape from there. I got stuck in some pixels.

In Future Tank i noticed another curious bug, got stuck into a tree. After trying to escape it looked like i'm parking on it.

Thread moved for now as it's more likely to be a dodgy ADF thank WinUAE...

@trackah123: can you tell us more details about which ADF you are using e.g. Cracker, CRC32 etc?

As far as I am aware, there is nothing special about the copy protection on James Pond 2, and Skid Row did it 100%

I'm no expert in this but i think like you said the crack is probably 100% ok from skidrow.. but maybe a buggy trainer can cause these kind of glitches or bugs?

I think this is highly unlikely

I believe Hungry Horace hit the nail on the head. Like he says, sometimes these bugs just occur in games and it can take a strange jumping angle or something like that to cause the problem. As no-one else here seems to have encountered the bug I think its safe to assume that its quite rare.

I bet you'll find it difficult (maybe impossible) to repeat!

there are also GOOD cracks on disk images which show read errors later
(just since the dimwit who transferred the game from real 3.5'' disk back in the 90's has never checked whether the image fully works!)

preaching to the converted mate - never trust adfs

still, for me the only "good" cracks are WHDload installers (which probably arent allowed to count as cracks anyway) since they get tested quite heavily, and it seems like the people who make them have a re passion for making sure the job is done right, without all the silly (although amusing) "one-upmanship" that seemed to dominate cracked games at the time.
