Game like Commando on C64
It looked like Commando. There were prisoners and I could blow the doors with grenades by pressing space and save them. I think they said Thank you after I saved them.

Who dares wins was my first thought too. But there you throw the grenades with the stick, not with the space key.

C64 game
Looked at the suggested games. They are not. I'm pretty sure there were grenades and I threw them at the bars to save the prisoners. I think the game scrolled in four directions. Last edited by ancalimon; 01 December 2009 at 18:37. |

More of a "Gauntlet" game than a "Commando" clone, but was it "Shackled" by any chance?

I remember these:
The game played from the top. When my soldier collided with an enemy soldier, they started spinning and after a while the enemy soldier died. It means either I used a trainer or there was an energy bar. I loved the music. I think all or part of the game took part in a building (not sure) I collected the grenades and threw them them at the bars to blow them and prisoners were saved. |

The spinning part really reminds of Ikari Warriors. So to follow up Kitty's suggestion, you should take a look at the sequels (never really played them so can't say if there are some prisoners to rescue, but the title for the 3rd game in the series seems to hint so):
