I don't know why those Amiga developers are leaving, but Underground Arcade is here to stay, and we're going to keep supporting the Amiga platform!

damn you all!

we are talking about Chris Hodges here, the author of Poseidon USB stack used in classic amigas and MOS (also author of other cool stuff)
Piru, author of the famous Blizkick (and other cool progs too!) and MOS developer
and all other sites are of IMPORTANT software developers with programs like AmiTradeCenter etc... all are not just some guy that codes a 68k prog, we talk top stuff here!
and all that happened because 1 person in amiganews named PAB flamed Chris Hodges... one can guess that was the last insult they could take...?

I insult you all the time, Keropi, and you never leave. Maybe we can all give these guys an e mail and get them to take out their anger on you and Dizzy

what I don't understand is ... we're all adults here, 30's mostly, if not 40's. then someone calls someone names. and then its 'uhuuuu mommy, pab called me stupid, I'm leaving the amiga huuu' ... very mature.

It feels like as soon as it was announced that OS4 for Classics was going to be released some important Amiga people put on their grump-mode, Bernie (Amithlon dev.) for example

I have learned by reading "other" amiga forums that it usually goes like this:

- Stupid user (the vocal minority part only) tries to say something technical and misses the point completely/says something that is completely wrong.

- Someone who knows about the technical details (usually developer) politely (more or less, the less polite the higher the loop count varible) corrects him.

- Stupid user replies with insults/personal attack.

Mission complete. Increase loop counter and restart.

(Those who lack humour detector: I was not completely serious)

Indeed. It's all a bit embarrassing and I'm not sure I would even expect that sort of behaviour from schoolkids...

It's the users who have lost, so maybe they should have bit their lip?

Oh F*ck!

That's a lot of very important devs.
Going to be some serious impact if this isn't temporary:

-My new subway isn't going to get registered now. A lack of full Poseidon has just turned my main project to poo. Time to sell up?-

Among the many good reasons I hang about the EAB rather than other forums is the generally good-humored nature of the discussion even when a good flaming would be richly deserved.

subways have an OEM license for POSEIDON, there is NO NEED for a keyfile or registering

@Charlie

I have a new subway which I have not yet used, are you saying I have to register poseidon? I thought they came with it!?

There will always be annoying ppl wherever you go, be it online or in RL.

Hmm... amiga-news.de must be considered an important site by the developers.

EDIT: keropi seems to have answered my question about poseidon. I thought it should work out of the box.

@keropi & Calgor:
My bad no doubt - there didn't seem to be a licence key on the drivers disc that came with my subway. I looked for one when it installed in unlicenced mode...
...I'll have a closer look.

@Zert0:
Hmmm, steak! ( dribble )

My thanks.

PS
You've all made my point I make a probably mistaken comment, you kindly point out my error & try to help. No flaming & I'm not bent out of shape for being corrected - why must the rest of the Amiga community be so different?

Whittling aside: I've no idea if any of the above devs frequent the EAB...
I appreciate all your hard work.
I'm sure the vast majority would agree.

Has anyone tried to contact Chris yet?

I'm pretty sure I have his e-mail address, I'll check it when I get home.
