Music-X MaXTraX help
Well it all started cause I wanted to edit music from Legened of Kyrandia.
As I found out .mx or .mxtx extension is related to MaxTrax. "A music format created by David 'Talin' Joiner and Joe Pearce for playing scores created or edited in Music-X." and indeed Kyrandia music is listed among few others as MaxTrax "All known me MaxTrax's serial numbers: 0001 - Secret Of The Silver Blades 0003 - Pools Of Darkness 0007 - SimEarth v1.0, SimEarth v1.01, SimAnt v1.0 0008 - Might & Magic III 0012 - Dark Queen of Krynn 0015 - Contraption Zack 0017 - Legend Of Kyrandia 0018 - A-Train v1.00 0020 - Dark Seed 0021 - A-Train v1.01, A-Train Construction Set v1.00 0022 - Dune II 0030 - LGPL release" and Kyrandia maxtrax files can be found on exotica for example. I tried to open these files with Music-X 1.0 and 2.0 and in both cases I got error message "File is old Music-X format" Did I get something wrong? Is there really older Music-X program? Are these files supposed to be editable with Music-X or is there some other program/tracker able to do this and save back to mx file format? |

MaxTrax format is used for "for playing scores created or edited in Music-X" only.
You can convert (if you have MaxTrax developer disks) every Music-X 2.0 score to MaxTrax format, but you can't edit MaxTrax song with Music-X (known me versions). Then is possible only to save Music-X score as MaxTrax song or for very good musicians load, edit and later save MIDI song as MaxTrax song. Then if you want to edit Kyrandia songs, you must load PC (MIDI) versions of these songs to Music-X 2.0. Updated versions of MaxTrax's serial numbers: 0001 - Secret Of The Silver Blades 0003 - Pools Of Darkness 0007 - SimEarth v1.0, SimEarth v1.01, SimAnt v1.0 0008 - Might & Magic III 0009 - MaxTrax Demo Disk 0010 - IntuiPlayer 0011 - MaxTrax CLI Player 0012 - Dark Queen of Krynn 0015 - Contraption Zack 0017 - Legend Of Kyrandia 0018 - A-Train v1.00 0020 - Dark Seed 0021 - A-Train v1.01, A-Train Construction Set v1.00 0022 - Dune II 0030 - LGPL release |
