I've got a very "blind" memory of a show of this kind I've watched as a kid on SkyOne. I believe mostly kids competed in games but there might also be some reviews...
Not to mention a french-only show on some french tv on Astra with many reviews. Saw a few episodes around the time when WarCraft2 came out. |

Hey, nice Video.
On the subject of old Computer Shows, does anyone remember that 'Streetfighter II Players Guide' Video that was given away with NMS? If you recall, it featured Julian Rignall and Gary Harrod commenting on different techniques as they played the game. You can see the first part here. |

I loved Gamesmaster when it came out, it was something fresh and new, and Dominic Diamond was quite cool then (now he is an old bloke like me, and regularly appears on DIY channels on cable). DD has also done a games program on one of the cable channels which is pretty good, it's basically a pisstake of the other games programs, and doesn't take itself seriously. I can't remember what it's called, Gamey-something-or-another...
The set for Gamesmaster has appeared in a few different productions - if you are a fan of Red Dwarf, watch the Justice episode (can't remember the actual title of the episode, but it's the one where they defrost a mad cyborg and have to get to the prison ship). The prison ship is the same as the Gamesmaster studio - I think it's a water works near London? |

Series IV Episode 3 of Red Dwarf. It is a disused water woks and was used by Gamesmaster for their oil rig set if I remember right. |

I used to love this programme. I think when I was 12 or 13 I went to the Gamesmaster Live! event in Birmingham NEC. It was cool trying out new games before release and picking up a few cheap ones for my Atari ST from the various mail order companies that set up shop there.
A mate and I were in the audience on one of the episodes when Dexter Fletcher was doing it. Although to be honest, it ruins the illusion when you see what actually happens behind the scenes on the show. |

I liked Gamesworld, Big Boy Barry, the ninja.
That was the first time I saw David Walliams, he of Little Britain fame. And of course, there was the Games Mistress, Diane Youdale AKA Jet from Gladiators. |

The Gamesmaster mag is still going, amazingly. Must be a candidate for one of the longest running mags of its kind, considering the show started in 1992 (not sure when the mag started). The beauty of a games mag of its type is that it can drop whatever games machine peters out and take up current favourites.

The first issue is dated January 1993 I believe, so that's over 14-and-a-half years...
