@Yotoxionomai
You see even if most of the games where PC only, the games are all Retro now and so perfectly fit where Zetr0 said I really have to play WC3 again sometime this year because you reminded me of it. So thanks for that!

Btw : Was 'Who pays for EAB' moved yet? It's also a thread that shouldn't be in OT

How am I suppose to vote in this one? I've never played any of those Wing Commander games and the only other choice is to say I don't like what I've never tried. Feh!

Then play one They are not too hard to find. Or just don't vote. That's always an option

I own them all as well, but never played any secret missions.

Do you guys know how complicated is story map for Wing Commander 1?? For every mission you can pass or fail, so the story takes different turns depending on your success.

(I have story map in one book, will try to scan it and post it in next couple of days)

Well with a decent machine (or WinUAE ) it's quite enjoyable. With your machine I would give it a shot one day, because you actually might like it For me the (bloated) third part is really good, because it has some really nice cutscenes and a good story. The fourth part is nearly the same with a different background story.

3. and 4. game had Mark Hamill (Star Wars' Luke) as main character. At the time those were most expensive game developed. (4 million US$ for WC3 and 12 millions US$ for WC4)

I liked more animations in first 2 games.

I just checked the HOL and discovered there isn't a WHDLoad version of Wing Commander. How odd.

Did you tried the original installer of the game? Don't know, but I guess it will run on most machines. Just give it a try

And there is no copy protection. At least not one that I remember. (I had original game for Amiga, later PC versions were on the CD, still no copy protection )

That's correct (can only speak for the Amiga versions here, never played the PC versions), the game wasn't protected in any way. Except for the "runs way too slow on A500 so nobody would want to copy it anyway" protection

Not yet. The HOL didn't indicate that it was HD installable so I assumed (wrongly, it would seem) that it wasn't. I have it on good advice that the CD32 version can be installed to the HD and run with a patch. I've also read that getting it to work is difficult and that it will probably run too fast.

I may have to do some kind of tribal dance to make this work. If it starts raining, blame me.

P.S. I will vote in this poll one way or another!

It wasn't that bad when played from HD.

It's quite hot here so won't mind if you do

I think you will be able to install the game and hope you'll like it. So have fun!
