ClassicWB_LITE install help *please*

I'm back with yet another stupid question or two

Planning to install this WB on my real A1200.

UAE doesn't seem to work properly on this PC & I don't want to install it on my other PC.

Bloodwych's website says I must create a file called System.zip and place it in my DH0: partition, but the only way to do this is with UAE

I do have Amiga Explorer set up and it works great, so copying stuff over from the PC is no issue.

Can I just copy the system.hdf hard disk image onto my DH0: and it'll work?

The need to use UAE to install on a real Amiga is a real bummer

PZ.

*edit* - Ah no, I thought I could change the title too...whoops, now this'll confuse everyone! lolz

Looks like (from pictures on his site) putting the .hdf on DH0: should work, I just need a genuine WB floppy (got a 3.1 one)

I'm assuming that the Real_Amiga_Install.ADF (written to floppy) runs an application that simply unpacks system.zip onto the same bootable partition (DHO: ) and then after re-booting you get here:

So, if it's just a zipped version of the files in the .hdf then it's more or less the same thing and although taking longer, simply copying the .hdf file over will work too? (and not needing to use Real_Amiga_Install disk of course)

Excellent news......if it works......will it?

Oh, and is it ok if I use 3.1 ROMs with WBLITE, as opposed to 3.0, which it seems to be designed for?

I figure it'd be better to match the ROMs to files extracted from the WB 3.1 disk.

To be honest: I didn't worked (WBLite) for me too, on my real A1200 with Kickstart 3.0. The uncompressing of the System.zip starts and nothing more. I copied the System.hdf content to my real hdd via WinUAE then.

Cool, that sounds like good news to me then, as aside from using UAE to write it you've done almost the same as what I want to do, just a different method of transferring the HDD image

Nothing worked, so I spent a while getting WinUAE to work properly.

Zipped everything with DOpus and then used the Install_On_Real_Amiga disk...this failed twice in a row.

I ended up copying everything from System (DH0) in UAE and the folders/icons open in the workbench (myfiles, icons folder, etc) upon startup. Put them all straight onto a freshly partitioned and foratted real hard drive and it works great...finally!

It has some nice tools & programs. Saves a lot of memory for the WHDLoad games too, compared to other CWB packages & OS3.5/3.9 installs.
