The drivers for 3Com PCMCIA cards are here:
ftp://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/hard/drivr/3c589.lha Unfortunately, the card you have is not mentioned in the list of compatible hardware. |

Worth trying any way, I've got the 3C589D-TP card and it works perfectly with this s/w, and a lot of other cards are compatible with the instruction set...

The 3com cards mostly need specific drivers. The newer stuff usually doesn't work with the 3c589 driver. |

If they use the newer 100base chip, they they probably won't work but most of the 10base cards should give some functionality, if not the best performance...
Also, installing ghost images only works if the H/W is the same as that used to produce the original image, otherwise you can get all kind of probs from wierd errors to no boot... |

XP handles it best so far (I had one installation that lived over three different laptops), but at that time (1999) we were running NT4 and Win95, both of which would have totally bombed out if I'd have dropped the wrong package into the wrong hardware. :-D Ok, no offence taken, I'm just mildly amused.. I thought I give the impression that I know what I'm doing.. Must try harder, I guess. :-D |

Well moving onto the Ghost area - XP is the biggest pain in the backside to Ghost (if you use the Sysprep utility) as it removes services, problems with SID (Security Identifiers) and all sorts - also if you use none-corporate versions then you will get asked the CD Key number and lock yourself out of the activation as your hardware has changed (3 pieces of hardware change and your're locked out)
Anyway that's completley off topic... lol Macca |

Glad you didn't take offence Jope, cos I didn't mean any just that the miggy driver isn't tied to the paticular card as baddly as it is on the PC... |

Heh, I only run the Corporate version too (with a valid corporate keyfile too :-). The product activation is a pain in the ass. ;-)

Hi! I resurrect this ancient post just to ask whether anyone has tried using the 3COM 3ccfe574bt with a A1200. The card is not mentioned in the compatibility list, but I didn't find any evidence that it is NOT compatible. Please help!

I'm also interested as I have the chance to get a bulk lot of these cards and could offer them as available for other Amiga owners very cheaply.
Found this information in a linux page somewhere: Fast Ethernet (10/100baseT) adapters: [3c574_cs driver] [x86,ppc] 3Com 3c574TX 3Com Megahertz 3CCFE574BT, 3CXFE574BT, 3C3FE574BT 3Com Megahertz 3CCSH572BT, 3CXSH572BT So looks like a differenc chipset. Does anyone know if the 3c574 chipset is supported? They are 16-bit AND 10/100 so it'd be nice if they were supported. tiffers Last edited by tiffers; 27 May 2008 at 07:07. |

Best thing is to contact Neil Cafferkey, author of the 3C589 package. He's still quite active in the Amiga scene writing for OS4 and AROS.

Neil replied and told me that there is a hardware incompatibility with this card and the A1200's PCMCIA so, no amount of code will get this card to work.
