Potential problem with the upcoming Indivision AGA 1200
I'm seen/heard that the next gen of Indi AGA for the 1200 will have DVI-I.
This poses a dilemma for me, as I'll need to get a dvi-i to HDMI adapter as my tv doesn't take DVI. It does however have the 3 RCA component Hi Def sockets, with two additional ones for sound. but errr, will DVI-I go through the component without any fancy doohickies? failing that i'll have to source something like this from the UK: http://www.hdwise.com/product.php?productid=2049 hopefully this will be simple to solve... and cheap too! |

Thats pretty interesting... i wondered what we would do when TVs no longer support scart
i think my A1200 will out live my 1084s, so i would have to connect to a TV in the future... wouldnt this be good enough for conversion? |

Yep, get a DVI -> HDMI adapter and you should be ok.
You can't get the DVI -> YpBpR component conversion done without an expensive active converter, which will also degrade the signal quality. |

that's all well and good, but i dont like silent games
dont want speakers either when my tv has a perfectly good pair guess i'll have to fork out for that thing in the link, and some how find another plug socket to power it |

Are you sure you don't have extra audio inputs to go along with your HDMI input? Here's a pic that shows what I mean in some TV connections:
As you can see (Number 7) it supplies HDMI (for Video) and has Analog inputs for Audio. Some TV's don't have that feature, so in that case you need a converter like the one you linked. |

it has L/R connectors, but they're part of the YpBpR inputs.

hangon a sec... DVI-I does convert to YpBpR as it's analogue. It's DVI-D that needs converting, right?

The analog part of DVI-I is RGB, not ypbpr component...

Conversion from RGB to YPbPr is simple, you only need a couple chips and supporting components. There are many adapters out there, I wouldn't spend more than $15 on one. If you are handy, there are a few schematics here: http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=36782

some TV's also have a separate audio input which is in the form of a Mini jack so you can simply use a rca - 3.5mm stereo mini jack
