Classic Workbench OS3.9 in RTG =)

Hi There!

Mostly for the benefit of Mr Bloodwych this post...

Towards the end of this therad I've got some shots of my A1200T running CWB OS3.9 at 800x600 on my Mediator/Voodoo setup

I couldn't get the P96 drivers/Voodoo to work with CWB ADV SP which is a shame but its working great on the OS3.9 pack.

My only comment is that the OS is quite a bit slower then the stock OS3.9, icons are pretty slow to load, is there anything I can do to speed that up?

Once again, thanks for the great packs Bloodwych

Steve.

In 3.9 isn't there a way of using fast ram with the icons - anyone know where I am going with this??

Yep, in prefs, workbench. You can set it to "Other Memory".

Yes 3.9 has this feature. In Workbench Prefs you can choose what type of memory to use (Other).

@mfilos

I tried your suggestion, icons are a little faster now, plus I installed HSMath Libs that Zetr0 suggested and seems to be a little quicker now.

Fitting the Sound card and installing Warp3D this weekend, so maybe can try out some Demo's or something in RTG

Happy dayz....

This one is out of my knowledge area - tinkering with hardware setups like this and you have to go with those who have similar setups and experience. I only use WinUAE these days and a standard A1200.

What I can say is the OS3.9 pack uses FBlit and WBCtrl to speedup icons and save Chipram on naitive screens. Also uses FText. This is of course not required for P96, and different rules apply.

I would have thought the drivers would have worked fine with the ADV SP. The same drivers are used in the P96 pack aren't they? Where I removed FBlit, Ftext etc

Well you may have read that in another thread it looks like my Apollo 1240 is playing up

Anyway I had to strip down the Tower to rule out other problems so I thought, since I'm sitting at home all day today I would try CWB P96 with my 030 instead.

So I prepared a HDD in WinUAE and set it up via a 4way buffered IDE, with the Mediator/Voodoo. I had to reinstall/update P96 with the CV64 driver and delete the UAEGFX Monitor driver.

And it all works a treat, and its as fast with my 030 as CWB OS3.9 was with my 040!

So it must be something in the CWB ADV SP that the Mediator/Voodoo dosent like...

Also, for me I like the setup better of 3.1 with Scalos to that of OS3.9
