Well what an effing shambles that was.

First the person who uploaded it was seeding an archive that wouldn't extract one of the track files due to corruption, so he had to redo it.

Then the overall seeding of the download was consistently piss-poor and I couldn't get anywhere with it after a while (not that the seeding was all that great to begin with). Eventually it got delisted and I had to send another request for it.

Someone kindly obliges after a while, but guess what? He uploaded the first, unworkable archive. What a waste of download credit.

And lo and behold, that got deleted too. Request reset.

Nobody happened to have been lucky and grabbed the second version in full? I've never seen so much piss-takery with a single thing I seek.

If your upload credit isn't very good, I can send you whatever you wasted on that thing, if UG still allows you to do that?
I have more than I'll ever use

Can they be played without the adapter? Do you remember those CD to Tape adapters for cars - would the CD work with that?

You cannot if it works like the Spectrum one.. but it may not looking on the interweb.

Both links have now been posted around on the C64 websites and people talking about sniping and prices in the £100's

No they are accelerated recordings which cannot survive the SNR drop from transfer to tape.

You can always look into making your own C64 TAPE port adapter and use an MP3 player with accelerated MP3's encoded using the free OTLA application.

Greedy bastards.

I'd actually be fine with someone else grabbing it if they were guaranteed to dump the contents and spread them round the webs for all to enjoy, but knowing my luck they'll hoard it.

AFAIK it is next to useless without the adapter cable, maybe slightly more useful than the spectrum one but pretty useless none the less.
