50 Euros? I thought they were meant to be cheap. Has demand pushed the price up?

I have a Pi. This is what I payed:

$35 for the Pi
$9 for International shipping
$29 for import duties

Which is a total of $73 = 59.4 euro

So if you see it this way, the offering is reasonable.

Import duties, what a rort!! I paid 48 aud delivered, to Aus! around 40 EURO.

Remember that Raspberry pi foundation is a charity, so you should buy from one of there distributors if possible.

I bought it from an official one, that is why I payed $35 for the Pi, then $9 for international shipping (which is reasonable), and then $28 for import taxes and DHL additionals (shipping method is not negotiable when you buy it at this official distributor, and the other distributor, for some unknown reason, doesnt ship to my country), which I might add are pertty reasonable compared to other countries.

What you dont get, is that the Pi is only $35 if you live in the UK and have Farnell or whatever official distributor within a walk from your home.

For the rest of the world the Pi is a nice geek toy, but it is not that cheap, as we need to pay International shipping and custom duties.

Sorry, the second part of my post wasn't directed at you. More at people considering buying from someone trying to turn a profit (even a small one) of a charities hard work.

So i should probably give it....
just to let you know that i bought it thinking i'll be able to do a lot with , but no time nor motivation and i don't make a profit if you think of the package , take my car to go to post office , and if you don't want it which i'm sure , don't take it , that's all.

@Thread

c'mon guys

Give lolafg a break, its his item, its his price, there is no need to berate him about it just to make yourselves feel good.

either buy it or make an offer, to do anything else is a little immature.

Guys,

my opinion on anything related to money and selling is

If someone is willing to pay at a certain price, why not sell it for that??

If it is too expensive then nobody would pay! Or would they??

Dont worry
I see your point and it is reasonable, but then the market is never driven by sanity, just by demand and offer.

i think its more to do with how crap they are i was 1 of the first to get 1 and i was very dissapointed with it ,theres no acceleration for the graphics everything is slow xbmc is good though if you want to use it as a tiny media player, but programming is slow ,everything slow , it will just cheese you off like it did me i sold it and brought a lovly amd a8-3870k and an asus fm1 board what a lovly machine i made now i can run xbmc properly and program super fast better than a raspberry and it does your head in the amount of wires everywhere , basicly the raspberry pi was a good idea back in 1982 but its now 2012 , and they spent years in the making of it and still no really good os with graphics support its just pants.

I have to agree completely with you. Linux runs as slow as hell on the Pi. I was dissapointed too, so I have sold mine a week ago to some computer science student, and bought an Intel Atom board for my remote client project.
Unless Raspbian with hard float support gets officially released pretty soon, I have no good expectations for the Pi.

The winner with it as far as I'm concerned is the breakout for GPIO. I plan to have some fun with that, constructng things like a HxC style drive emulator. If you don't need the GPIO, nor the promised pi-specific educational materials, I think there are better bets out there!
