Jope, I had exactly the same issue with some Teac FD-235HF/Mitsumi drives.
Even after unbridging, the drive didn't work

Is there any useful way for switching to DD permanently?

Someone wrote here that this one is working, you have to try: http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=26696

Maybe i'll get the same drive next week and have to try myself.

Teac FD-235HF

the Mitsumi drives are the best because they have a better ready signal, for the Teac drive I have no experience

but forget the samsung drives and the sony mpf920, the ready signal of those drives are not accurate, not very suitable for the AMiga,
lot of games will fail to load on them, ie Flood, PP hammer,PInball dreams etc etc

What? As i know Samsung SFD-321B are working perfectly ! They have a real ready signal and are easy to modify! Maybe you haven't modified it correctly? I have modified the samsung myself, i can test it with pinball dreams and maybe PP hammer if you want...i have these on floppydisk i think.

I have tested pinball dreams today with one of my samsung sfd-321b ...it works perfectly ! Samsung sfd-321b is one of the best drives you can get for amiga.

I have rebuilt a fair amount of Sony MPF-920 drives (different revisions spanning ten years) and at least they boot SWIV, which is what I use as the basic disk drive test.

You are all wrong! Flood is playing perfectly too! I've just tested it with my Scoopex-Version ..btw. one of my favourite game back in the days

Can't test it with PP Hammer because i don't have it, but all these games are working. As i said, samsung is known as one of the best drives with real ready signal! What modification have you done to your drive? Post a link please or pic, i think you've done something wrong if it's not working.

I've done a mega-test with some different drives with Flood. It's very strange, mybe my amiga has a problem or there's really something strange going on. All drives are reworked to amiga-compatible:

Flood Scoopex Version works with:

Samsung SFD-321B /MACT Rev. M2

Flood doesn't work with:

Samsung SFD-321B /EZ Rev. S2

Now, you can verify with exactly the same drives. Both drives have a real ready signal but one is working with Flood and the other one not.

Maybe the Scoopex version has a problem mentioned in an other forum! There is an other version out there on adf, i haven't tried it but it should work even with drives not working with flood scoopex version.

Sometimes you have to write ADF to floppy disk by the drive you want to use.

My Flood scoopex version test:

Flood is working:

Samsung SFD-321B /MACT Rev. M2
Teac FD-235HF C110 (has no real ready!)

Flood is not working:

Samsung SFD321B /EZ Rev. S2
Mitsumi D359M3
Mitsumi D353M3D-5088
Alps DF354H090F
Citizen Z1D
FD-235HG 6304

Don't think about it as long as you don't have a scope and/or knowledge how this can be done. Without this it just gets worse. I have never adjusted it because i'd never the need and i don't have a scope.

But, you can try with X-Copy to adjust if you really want to do this without a scope...with much much patience, it's a trial and error method !
