Hmm. The save disk does work with T+1 disk 1. It is the plain [!] disk 1 that I've been using. I got some good crashing sounds; train whistle, bagpipes, different horns.

I just started all over with [!] disks instead of IPF. Substitute T+1 for disk 1, turn on trainer, warp speed to WinUAE. Made it to tower OK.

So, the [!] disk 1 is responsible for said crash?

(sorry if I seem like making dumb blonde comments, but I am really curious and try to reach a conclusion here )

Haha I always thought I was lucky that the trainer works with the 'good' set, not that the trainer disk was actually the solution

I'll have to be honest: WOTD is one of those games that I 'play' for the graphics and music... the actualy gameplay is quite tedious. So I won't test the 'normal' [!] set much, but I'm more than happy if the trained version works for everybody (without the trainer enabled even)

Replayed from scratch (all [!] disks) one more time just to make sure. Quickstart (most common) enable DF1: A savestate is Zoned a few steps from Dark Tower to show crash.

I think the only disk that needs to be downloaded is Wrath of the Demon (1991)(ReadySoft)(Disk 3 of 5)[cr SR][!].zip. Put it in DF1:. Walk ahead a few steps. When track reaches 34 the game crashes.

So I recommend [t +1 SR] for disk 1 and [!] for the rest. i.e. TCD's method

Next time an aggravating game turns up, see about a world-famous Captain dlfrsilver extended adf. Asking for those isn't taboo.

Be my guests on this one, i have created extended ADF of wrath, and added clenched save disk.

Load fine and good. The only annoying thing, is that i'm unable to find the action replay memory cheat to get the infinite energy (to test the ExtADF right to the end).

it's in the zone

The extended ADF disks are perfect. Game completed in a little over two hours. That includes allowing time for all the animations and scrollers to finish and a little break for a glass of tea. Here is a little map of the castle.

Each level has different locations for energy etc. Seeing this thread reminds me that I should probably continue what I started back in July 2008 and then left 99% finished on my hd.
