Kickstart 2.04 ROM

Hi guys,

If there is any interest I have a kickstart 2.04 ROM. It should be working, I have no way to test it. I have used it in the past.

I'm not wanting anything for it, rather than throwing it away I'll just need the postage costs. I live in England and I'm only wanting to post to the UK.

Should there be any need for it just let me know

I also have a listing of stuff I am currently selling on ebay:

Thanks!

No sorry, it has 37-175 displayed.

I'm curious to what the difference is though

I know a guy who needs one so he can use CrossDOS (he got keen after seeing me finally get it working) as he only has 1.3.

If you change your mind and decide you might post to Australia I'll tell him to get on here

Ohh may be able to help you! The reason I am selling all my Amiga gear is because I am moving to Australia!!!

You could wait till I arrive, or *EDIT*

... well actually I can probably post overseas from here, as long as you dont mind the postage costs.. ?

Just got an email from him and he's stoked, but his work's spam filter must be blocking the registration confirmation email.

He'll do it from home in a few hours.

Hey hey, I'm here. I was wrong, the spam filter didn't kill my confirmation email after all, just slowed it down a bit.

Can I just ask, is this a piece of software on a floppy disk we're talking about, or is it an actual ROM chip that I'd need to solder in to the motherboard? (Sorry I'm a bit slow on the uptake)

If it was less than 37.350 AND it fell out of an A600 then the internal IDE isn't bootable. I've had first hand experience of this... drove me nuts trying to get A600 to bootup from HD... replaced with 3.1 and it works fine

Your ROM probably was from an A500+ or similar.

Also heard troubles of anything below 37.350 not allowing hardrives over 200mb or something like that.

Shayne, it's not software (you can sort that out later).

It's the Kickstart ROM (Read Only Memory chip). Without this you cannot run the version of Workbench you need for CrossDOS. Think of it as your Amiga's BIOS.

It doesn't need to be soldered in, there is a socket were her current 1.3 ROM lives, you just remove the 1.3 and pop in the newer one.

I mentioned the kickswitch in that email...haven't gotten around to doing mine for the A500, but it's super basic and if you don't feel confident I'll be more than happy to solder it up for ya

2.04 chip given away here is for the A500 and does not contain or need scsi.device code as the A500 has no internal IDE interface.

Kickstart 2.05 v37.350 is for the A600 and contains the updated scsi.device and pcmcia slot's card.resource

No problem there...his machine is an A500

*edit* - After re-reading the thread I guess it looks like maybe Shayne is just me trying not to look like a scabby dude...

Nah, it ain't me and I don't need to buy that ROM AmigaKit...I've got my choice of 1.3 & 3.1 for my A500 here anyway, plus the ROM you mentioned for the A600 included with my new A600 mobo...ah yeah, I can't wait!

Shayne, get this ROM now, you know you want it!

PZ.

I just wanted to point out that it wasn't necessary to buy a 37.350 ROM if you have an A500- version 2.04 would be fine.

Yeah, I'd love to grab it if that's OK crs. And I'm trying to get all this set up for my g/f for christmas, so I'm happy to pay for postage over here (Canberra, Australia). If you want to let me know how much it'll cost and how to get you the money, I'll get straight on it.

A-ha! Yes, it was taken out by my overzealous spam filter. Sorry about that. My gmail addy gets almost 6000 spams per month these days and this is the first false positive I know about, so I had thought the filtering was doing a pretty good job.

Anyway, thanks for posting it out to me. I've sent you some paypal cash.
