Is SOTB not supported or have you not got a decent dump?

No integrity (checksum's parity's etc.) info.

However, very soon, that will no longer be a problem

The disk format has been described, but the format does not indicate if the data is "good" or not. I.e. if there is an error, you wouldn't know.

Same would have been the case at duplication. There would have been no verifying of what was written.

Psygnosis duplication again...

Can you clarify, like, "In a few months, we will be making another DLL release to support these games" or something
Or can you give details what you will have dont to overcome the problem ?

I dunno about anyone else, but I am waiting KGS, SOTB 1 & 2 etc.

But I do seem to remember there being at least 1 psygnosis game IPF'd and in the database.

Actually all EU versions of Psygnosis games that are dumped and good are in the database.

Missing ones are the ones without checksums:

Shadow of the Beast
Shadow of the Beast 2
Baal

...and the ones with 1.5bit mfm encoding:
Nitro
KGS
Obitus
ArmourGeddon

...no good disk dumped so far:
Carthage
Red Zone

Everything else is there including their very first games like Brataccas or
Arena.

Games from the same company quite often use different methods to store data.

Many of the Psygnosis games are known for being unverified during
duplication more over they do not contain checksums - there is no point if
you don't verify them in the first place, an error message would just
confuse the user and flood the return department

However many of those games still have checksums on the disks, probably due to the duplicators, those have been used to find good copies. Only Beast1 & 2 and Baal do not have anything on the disks to identify their integrity.

Therefore we've developed two things to help finding good copies of those
games:

1, ensure the dumps read are good, without using a checksum

2, comparator that helps identifying differences between games in any
formats.

Good versions of Beast1 & 2 and Baal are available due those developments,
though we are still looking for dumps for both Beasts as there are real alternate versions have been positively identified, but no good dump of those exist and they are uncommon retail versions.

Regardless, the common versions will be out on IPF very soon. Carthage and Red Zone were bad duplication runs, unfortunately only games from those are dumped. Both have checksums, although Carthage's are only used for duplication, the game itself is not bothered about knowing if a good data read happened or not...

None of the above requires a new library for trivial reasons.

1.5 bit encoding ones would take quite some work to support properly - as we
do for every single game out.
