Apollo 1240@25mhz
havent posted for while but i was wondering
i got an Apollo 1240@25mhz without the additional simm i know can pick up the angled simm sockets at Amigakit and these cards can be converted to 060 i was wondering if there was someone about that still does the convertions and if adding the additional simm socket was possible. oh its got the Mach131 install my concern is that somewhere down the line this card has had a modification made to its cooling which will need undoing but doesnt look too bad. pics not great i know its not to bad a card how it is for those who have interested in sysinfo |

What did they do to that poor 040
Gonna do a 060 upgrade to mine, as soon as I'll source a damned 74F74 (Currently it's dead in the water, I bought it with a real bad corrosion case, which ate most of the F74's pins) If I recall correctly, adding another SIMM slot is possible, and I wanna do exactly that on my Apollo That battery replacement is nice. That's another thing on the to-do list, seeing that the old battery leaked completely |

i found some cpu's but i dunno which one is required for conversion or which is best
here are model numbers of 68060 if someone can yes/no them for me or just tell me which one is best would be great. MC68LC060RC50 MC68EC060RC66 MC68EC060RC75 XC68LC060RC66E XC68EC060RC60 XC68060RC50 XC68060RC60A from reading i guessing the last number is mhz 50/60/66/75 LC (Low Cost) EC (Embedded Controller) last 2 model numbers down have no LC or EC so confusing any help thanks |

The two last ones are "full" processors, others are missing FPU and/or MMU. The last one is the best IMO.

adding second simm socket has nothing to do with upgrading to 060 cpu. You can do it any time even with 040.
as zipper already said, forget LC and EC CPU, you will need uncrippled variant, from which is XC68060RC60A best and with some luck it will run at 80mhz (probably not). edit: also replace that nasty capacitor at the center of cpu socket for better one (panasonic elyt or tantalum one) Last edited by Chain; 12 February 2010 at 23:09. |

Best 060 CPU is MC68060RC50 with mask E41J.
Old XC types are wall heaters (but not so hot than XC040s, of course). |
