Pfs3 error
I yesterday got a nice 80gb ide drive. I set it up using the hdtoolbox from os3.9 and used the pfs3 file system following a YouTube video so I get the various parameters correct. The drive is partitioned as 2gb for DH0, 37gb for DH1, 37gb for DH2. Ok so it's an 80gb drive but it's actually only 76gb.
I've installed classic workbench 3.9 to dh0, dh1 has all the whdload games and dh2 has the whdload demos. All files extracted to each drive fine, no issues. The problem however occurs when i try to add the games to whdload. When scanning it works fine for about 30 seconds then i get the following error twice. pfs3 error device dh1 alert wrong dirblock id. It continues to scan after but almost seems as if its died as ive left it for a good 10minutes and it doesn't complete. Scanning for demos on dh2 works fine. Any idea what this error means? Is my new hdd faulty? If so why would the fault not of shown up when the files were extracting? |

Are you using a fixed scsi.device? Wrong Block ID usually ends up with re-partitioning the drive or used to for me, did you set the drive up in an Amiga or a PC? I used to find using those cheap IDE to USB cables always gave me problems and they all went away when I binned it.

I out the hard drive in the amiga tonight. Dh0 works fine and the amiga boots to classic workbench 3.9 without problem. Both drives dh1 and dh2 however come up as uninitialized.
Drive dh2 was blank anyway so I'm trying to do a quick format on it here. At 52gb (I changed things around a bit) how long should a quick format take? |

I think I might have solved my problem. I've been using scsi.device 44.2 but I've now read that doesn't support drives over 4gb. I'll have to try 43.45 and see if that fixes it.
