A600 Mouse/Joy Ports

I just got an A600 and am wondering about connecting devices like the Tom+ USB Mouse and Joystick adapter. Dont want it on the side on the machine and thinking to move it to the back via an extension cable.

Joystick extension cables are expensive and hard to find so thinking I might bodge together something but want a tidy look.

Q: If I hack off the lobes off this would it fall to pieces or not? I can then run a ribbon cable under the A600 and out the back. Tidy and functional.

Yep, the rivets are what hold the front shielding in place. The rest of the connector will hold together just fine, but the front shielding will be loose. You could probably glue it if you wanted to go that route. Extensions aren't that rare though, ones for the Sega Megadrive work perfectly well. Here's a set of 2 for £10. You won't be able to run them under the machine in the same way as you would a ribbon, but they're ready-made, moulded cables.

Thanks, will think about those Sega ones.. but if the shielding falls off thats not a bad thing.. will help the thing get in snugly to the A600. I'll order some and hack it and see....
