It's not needed.
From readme:

If you want save some space on HDD, you can delete audio files with these numbers
(unused in Heart Of The Alien):

01, 03, 04, 06, 08, 09, 10, 11, 13, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24
[edit 2]
Track 01 on the CD is the data track.
Obviously you need to rename the tracks, e.g track 02 to 01 and so on.

Well I can get the game to run. But if I walk left I get eaten by a Panther, and if I walk right there's a hole too big to jump over. Am I missing something?

first go left so the panther follows you, then run right to the structure you can climb on.
climb on it in time and the panther will miss you, chasing the little animal further to right.

Works well on my 1200 with 030@40mhz. Controls are a bit of a struggle as you have to be quite precise to make the jump out of the way of the black creature. I don't remember Another World being quite so picky or difficult (and I do remember finishing it). Shame it hasn't been set up for a CD32 controller and then it could mimic the 3 buttons of the original Megadrive version.

BUT - great to see this game on the Amiga at last and will keep at it as I did love the original game.

More like this please...
