Just putting my two cents in here, I find this game pretty difficult, and on my 6th attempt have scraped together what I think is a reasonable score, and to be honest, I don't have that much time to put into the game, maybe an hour a week if I'm lucky so it probably won't get much higher than that. I realise its a competition, but how about we all relax and have fun playing the game, seems people are trying to over complicate things a bit.

In a perfect run the extra lives counter would show 59 at the end (+ the 1 in play meaning the maximum is 60 lives).

My personal best is 52 extra lives at the end.

Was a bit rusty, but nonetheless this was still an above-average run for me:

After beating it this time I thought Turrican II is just perfect in every way (except for its low difficulty).

Definitely the best Amiga game ever.

P.S. Didn't milk/leech at any moment.

I'm still on a steep learning curve, got to the boss on 3-3.

3-2 was very interesting, I've never seen scrolling like it before.

Played it last night. Not very good at it. I got halfway decent at the first one after some extensive practice (only halfway though) so maybe I'll do it again if I can be bothered.

If you get grabbed by a hand in world 5, is there anything you can do about it or do you just die?

You can use the super desperation move (fire+space) which you can use once per life.

With this move you can also collect the 2 falling lives in level 2-2 without having to sacrifice 1 of your own lives.

Did you mean you got suckered by a face-hugger? You can waggle very quickly left/right to rip that thing off your face, but it will take half your life energy to do it. I guess you can also shrink into a gyro ball to do it, although I've only ever tried to waggle method. If you mean the walking hands with the huge eye-balls, then I've never been got by one of these; although I guess the gyro-ball method should work.

BTW, I see you've completed the game. How many lives did you have at the end?

24 Lives left. Funnily enough I didn't take the first 3 worlds that seriously intending it to be a training run and lost a lot of lives early on, quite a few to running out of time!

Then in one life I got from 3-3 to halfway through 5-1 . I ended up with 60 powerlines! If I had taken it more seriously to begin with I would have done a lot better, although still probably not enough to take second place.

I did mean a 'face-hugger' btw and the desperation moved worked great.

I continue in the same position, however I have accomplished a personal triumph completing the game without using extra credits.I could have done a lot more points if I had not taken a shortcut in a certain level.

That 'certain level' wouldn't be 4.2 would it? That level is so hard otherwise, so most times I do the very same thing - keeps the fun factor flowing.
