Best of both
The space allocated to me by the wife for my "toys" is a small desk, just enough space for my C64 and A600 to live happily side by side, with room underneath for my 1541 drive & my little guitar amp & PC - no room for an A1200. ( I have tried ) without making it extremely difficult to use the C64.
Anyway, The A600 is fine, nice compact size BUT I`m amazed how many A500 games do not work on it ! OK I can use a Relokick disk or similar downgrader, but that's a pain, so what I`ve done is stuff hundreds of ADF`s on the hard drive, write off all the games I want onto floppies ( I prefer disks & crack intro trainers to WHDLoad ) I`ve then pulled out the KS Rom chip & replaced it with a KS 1.3 from an A500. Result - 100 % compatibility with no messing about. Now I just need a Rom switch so I can get easy access to the hard drive when needed.... |
