LCD TV with an amiga classic
hello,
I don't know what happened recently on french forum but some guys would like to use again their old a500,a1200,... but have problem with monitors/screens for PAL/NTSC games. They try to found the cheapest solution. SD/FF is hard to found. I just want to know id a LDC TV (with PAL/NTSC tuner and with peritel, comp, svideo,...) can be used with amiga for PAL/NTSC games and workbench with a good result on screen ??. |

It does work. If you can get one with a SCART connector and an RGB SCART cable then the picture quality is good to great.

Yes Scart is Peritel.
Picture quality should be fine with a good TV and good quality cable. |

The quality is directly affected by the quality of the video scaler chip in the LCDTV they vary from model to model and manufacturer to manufacturer

Non interlaced would look Fuzzy, like bilinear filtered.
Interlace be the same, but the absence of flicker would of course make it look 10x better. |

All we have are biatches and ugly NYC EAB members...
I was surprised when I first got here to learn that there is no scart on TV, no drinking on the street and no toples girls on the beach. How dissapointing, especially last part. |

What for? You pays your money you takes your chance.
When you buy your LCDTV just ask if you are not 100% satisfied can you return it (with all packaging) for you money back / a different model. |

You dont want widescreen with an Amiga unless you are sure it has a good 4:3 scaling mode with left & right borders.
Probably better getting a cheaper 4:3 LCDTV |

I use a Digitrex (Currys) 15" LCDTV Model JTF1500RE, £129 last November. Pictures great with RGB/Svid/Comp/VGA and tuner.

i got one of those earlier this year for my A500, an end of line special for £99 from currys. must get an RGB to Scart cable, as composit is a little fuzzy, but still very usable for games.
so generally, all fine. takes a PC RGB signal too, so i can feed it 1024x768 from my A1200/PPC/Bvision. looks great! |
