Cinemaware "Wings" and newer ww1 sims

I got the Cinemaware game Wings at around 1991 or 1992, (cant remember which), and I've spent more hours on that (amiga) game than any other. Even today I log more hours on Wings on WinUAE than any other game .
Not sure what I like more: The excellent graphics, the very very VERY long campaign (200+ missions?), the three gaming modes: Strafing, dogfight and bombing, or the story which is told through the squadron journal entries.

Today though there aren't too many WW1 sims...There arent many sims at all. There is one game I'm currently hooked on though: [ Show youtube player ] (YouTube clip)
. It doesn't offer as solid a storyline as the old Wings in my opinion but the gameplay is fun and challenging, the graphics and physics is top-notch and I keep coming back for more eventhough I'm quite new and crashes every other flight. A major plus is that there is a multiplayer option and support for the [ Show youtube player ]. (YouTube clip)

So if yer a fellow Wings fan I recommend you try the Rise of Flight demo.

I'm going to give Rise of Flight a go - not only does it look and sound fantastic, but it reminds me of Knights of the Sky.

Yup, I got RoF as a self-present last Christmas, but didn't actually started seriously with it until last month. I've also recently got an original Knights Of The Sky copy, thinking of its null-modem two players posibilities.

Btw, my first ww1 flight game was Blue Max.

Well i´ve been more into Knights of the Sky than Wings. Don´t get it wrong, Wings is a really, really awesome game, but it lacks any deep in focus on strategy.
The Ancient Art of War in the Skies was also a cool WW1 game, but the Dogfights were more arcade-style.

But then Knights of the Sky had automatically generated enemies and while very playable was a bit arcadey for anyone looking for a flight-sim. There were some others though, Blue Max, Red Baron and Dawn Patrol.

Only slightly off topic: I highly recommend [ Show youtube player ]. Of course it's World War 2 rather than WW1, but if you're looking for something that looks like a flight simulator but plays like a very arcadey shoot'em up, it is worth a try.
