show us your competition pro

these things were built to last =O

take mine for example.. it's outlived one previous owner, three amigas, and even my cat.

and here it is, still raring to go.. just with a little help from some industrial tape. it rules so much.

so.. show us yours. the more beaten up and 'used' looking the better.

p.s. zipsticks need not apply >=|

Well, I would show all mine.... but the joysticks all ended up in that sad decrepit place called the Dump. Didn't even give them a decent send off. Or take pictures of 'em. One of them ended up being dismembered (the see-through one) and the auto-fire switch utilised in a scart splitter.

If I had taken photos, I don't think I would have been able to bring myself to dig them out and show them all to you guys.... too many fond (and frustrating) memories and it would be upsetting....

Just a shame the new USB ones arn't built to last, mine only went a few rounds on the new sensi soccer before the stick came out of the body and now it won't centre.

Wot happens when you yank it too hard! Ahem.....

Despite all the Competition Pros I've had that got busted through exhaustive rigorous game playing, I'm finding the Logitech Joypad (similar to the PS2) I'm now using to play Amiga games (through WinUAE) is holding out quite well.

Finding it harder on this Joypad to play Waggle-O-Mania than the Competition Pro though

ok ok i know these Aren't a comp pro but close relations @Stefan love that white comp pro with the black buttons.

@snyp just read your Zipsticks need not apply well in my opinion they're just as good if not better than comp pro's they come up on ebay just as often. and they fetch a higher price too!

p.s no industrial tape needed!

@last PROUDLY sarek2k presents for a one off show only his OWN comp pro all be it a pc usb version but at least it is more a comp pro than my offerings above

I feel proud because i lost all hope of ever getting this back as i loaned it out over a year ago and finally i have it back

it was deliverd back to me in a shit up state full of dust round the top of the joystick and it looked as old as a proper comp pro but i have to care for my stuff and i cleaned it and gave it the love and respect it deserves

it is now back in my joystick park enjoying life and getting back to health in preperation for a working version of sensi 2006 Let the games begin!

sorry the pic quality is crap but it's very late i've had a drink or three and the camera wouldnt focus lol tho i did manage to remove some of the scratches from the table i took the pic on lol

Ps as a side note i've also since aquired a black powerplay cruiser joystick with a raised border around the logo which is rare i got it off amibench for 5 quid odd inc post it's not the rarest cruiser but close to

now that's one nice-looking stick.

i read somewhere though (and someone's already said here if i remember), the usb remake's made of shoddy materials. if you pull the stick around too hard it comes off in your hand.

.. .. i didn't start off with the intention of turning this post into disgusting innuendo, but i couldn't help it. i'm so sorry.

Dear sir, I do not understand what you're talking about and frankly, I am appalled!

The two leftmost ones are USB, then a normal 5000, a Star Extra, a 2000 (no microswitches) and a colourful 5000.

I have more, but these were all close to eachother, so that's what you get a picture of. :-)

If anyone has any that I don't have, you can try and offer them to me.. It'd be fun to own all the different kinds.

Very easy to fix. There's a locking washer at the end of the stick that flew out.

Just take the controller apart, then push the stick back in all the way.

Find the locking washer that's somewere loose in the case and push it's open ends together a bit so it fits snugly in the end of the shaft.

Then just push the locking washer back into the little niche that is in the end of the shaft.

The USB models are nowhere near as well built as the old 5000/Star Extras. I have had to repair two of mine right after unpacking.. The micro switches for some buttons were loose inside!

Hmm, weren't those 15 pin competition pros digital sticks, not analogue? My friend used to have one of them and it had microswitches.

True, it connects to an analogue port, but it gives the maximum values for each direction when you turn it.

So you can't really compare it to a true analogue stick. However I prefer the digital kind myself.. Analogue is only suitable for simulators, not action games. :-)

Yes, it has 6 built-in microswitches.
And the A&D converter is intigrated.
So i would say it is an analogue stick.

Ok you are right, i can´t compare it to
a true analogue stick with potentiometers.

But it was amusing calibrating the sticks.

is that a mini-edition amongst a regular-sized competition pro?
or perhaps a mistake?
or bad eyes on me?
or what.

help me out here.

i'd really dig a 'bite-sized' competition pro. altogether serious statement. that would be so far out man
