IMHO rather pointless. If you can't make them run fast on the real deal you are coding for the wrong platform...

Yeah, code for the platform that runs the emu.

You could always learn asm. I guess a decent platform / audience is 030/50.

Development on Amiga games, apps and demos is still going on. There are a couple of different target systems that people generally try to design for. The most popular are:

1MB OCS/ECS Amiga (Amiga 500/600)
2MB AGA Amiga (A1200/CD32)
030/50/8MB AGA/RTG (Expanded Classics)
PPC/OS4 (If it runs well on a 603, it'll run well on the rest)
Sam440 533Mhz (The new Hardware Standard)

A game designed for a 030 with RTG would run very smoothly through WinUAE, and in many cases faster than an AGA version would. A lot of more modern games that are aimed at expanded classic systems have several different graphic options to tweak the game to best suit your system. When coding for older target systems, you would try and get the most out of the available hardware, and not force people to upgrade to play the game. You're best to pick one of the above target systems if you're planning on distributing your program to be used by as many people as possible. Good luck!
