Classic WB already has programs installed that will unarchive .LHA, .LZX and .ZIP files.

You can also just mount them in WinUAE and use DirOpus to examine / copy from.

...but to answer your question as to what apps these are, surprise surprise:
You might also find this URL handy: http://www.amiga-stuff.com/archivers-download.html

I forgot

If you want to unarchive under Windows, you can use 7zip for lha

For lzx instead you can use Unlzx

Well you haven't give us much detail in order to actually help you i.e:
  • What configuration have you set; CPU / Chipset / KS / RAM?
  • Basic .HDF or using RDB?
  • What file system did you format / install Classic WB on?
  • etc...

But you shouldn't unpack anything in Windows for Amiga use (even though it works in some cases, but the risk to lose information is there always), so the OP is correctly searching an Amiga solution.

Oh boy not this again...
Try and unpack the preinstalled WHDLoad game Embryo in 7-Zip or WinRAR and see what happens when you start the game.

Yeah, someone should write a FAQ, I'm bit tired to explain these things over and over again, and still these wrong things get recommended...

But to mention at least few things that happens when you handle Amiga files on an alien system like Windows, or even on Amiga when handled on a device containing an alien filesystem like FAT/NTFS:
- Protection bits aren't preserved correctly, scripts fail to start if they lose S bit, files can't be resident if they lose P bit, executables can't be launched if they lose E bit, etc. Affects especially with operating system files.
- File comments are lost.
- File names may change or break, and cause other issues depending the filesystem on an alien platform. Some files may get skipped totally.
- Timestamps of files may change depending the filesystem

And probably some other issues I don't remember now...

I thought you were having issues with ClassicWB and DirOpus i.e:

So what did you do to fix this? Not for my sake, but for others who may come across this...

Yes, you were lucky perhaps because the archives did not include characters or file names Amiga not supported by Windows.

Try and unzip this one: http://aminet.net/util/libs/mui38usr.lha

WinRAR and Windows ignore the first two files, the first "nameless" and second a file with a name "only extension", two things that on Windows you can not have

---- Italiano ----

Must be something in your configuration / setup as it works fine here using ClassicWB Lite and a 68040 CPU

No, like Damien says, you don't have a configuration for those CPUs.
Dopus4 works well with CPU 68040 but also CPU 68060, FPU and JIT, see scrennshot.
