Netsurf, Real Amiga 1200 with 32mb ram and 68040 cpu

First time I was able to log on to eab with Netsurf.

After log on I had 1.1mb free chip ram and 2mb free fast ram. Though I had lots of programs running in background.

I could start new thread and start to write, but after enter, I start to get assertion errors.

This is REAL fullfeatured desktop Netsurf, with tabs, no ixemul, no sdl, it has preferences etc.

this is targeted for real Amigas.

You can grap latest beta here https://github.com/DNADNL/NetScript

DNADNL has made netscript for those who wants to tinker with code and commit changes to source tree, here : http://source.netsurf-browser.org/netsurf.git/

Netscript automatically crosscompiles Netsurf, as many has tried but failed compile. That problem is now a history.

To get right to original source tree, ask chris (at) unsatisfactorysoftware.co.uk

Any way to get this running on 3.1? I'm using workbench.library 45.132. Is it possible to get Reaction on 3.1?

Try installing ClassAct - it's almost same thing. You'll find it on Aminet.

Would that work if the installer is expecting Reaction?

It woun't work with ClassAct, it requires OS3.5/9

What prevents you to install OS3.9? If you have enough CPU power and ram, you user experience is better with OS3.9.

It is useable with 32mb ram, it works with 68030, but lots of patience is required.

For those who want to test this.

- Settings - > Redering - > turn Cache native versions ON, much faster with plain AGA.
- FBlit helps a lot and makes it faster.

I don't remember, about 30-40 seconds? Generally speaking it starts to be as fast than iBrowse when surfing complex sites, like this or amiga.org. Though iBrowse displays pages immediately when it has something to display, when Netsurf displays page after it is finished.

Amiga friendly sites are much faster with iBrowse like amigaworld.net.

There are blenty of problems remain, somebody should write new memory managent system to it. It fragements memory very fast and after few pages speed starts to slow down. Some jpg pictures has weird "red effect", example of problematic jpg is amiga.org logo. No problems with this site.

Not massively interested in moving to 3.9 tbh, pretty happy with 3.1

id also prefer to have this working with 3.1 and class act for the sake of aros68k. but itd not s priority from chris perspective since he tries to minimize differences with his os4 port.
