Verifying Group names and Abbreviations
Hi
(i think i can use this thread but if mods find it would be better somewhere else, please move.) As you know there are tons of scene group names used all over TOSEC dats but i will talk only about "Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF]" related ones, the idea is that there are hundreds of different names used, some represent valid group names, others are errors / typos, others are abbreviations for some groups and there are also scener names (when the release / work was made by a guy alone and not a group). So, i'm trying to get all this info sorted out and identify which ones are valid groups, which are abbreviations and to which group they belong and so on. To do this i need to get a proof (like a shot of some TOSEC setfile showing the name) but doing this alone is overkilling / very hard (since i don't have the full set / time / hd space for that), so was looking for some help for you guys, to do this i can provide the group name + info i already known and up to 3 setnames / datfiles where the name is present. IF someone would like to help me / TKaos with this i will be very appreciated (I know you may find it stupid to request a proof for ALL groups, but i can't go out just by someones word even if he says the groups is well known, also there are lots of names that are present in only 1 or 2 sets and so seem suspicious or represent some less known group with very few releases (at least in TOSEC )). Thanks Checked groups until now: Format: Group Name (Abbr) [Full Name] Valid: 2 Unlim!ted 2D Team 68 DARC [68000 DARC] 7Up Crew (7 UP) 9009 XAD A-Ha A-Team [The A-Team] Abakus Abandon ABC Abnormal Data Above and Beyond Access (ACS) Ace, Gary Aces Ache Acid Ackerlight Action Accumulators (ACC) [The Accumulators] ACME Adderly Addicts Adept AEK Aeon Aesthetica Australian Crackers United (ACU) Cracking Force Neaples (CFN) Italian Cracking Service (ICS) Attention: Advanced Chemistry (AC) -> abbreviation needs proof. Accession (ACS) -> abbreviation needs proof. 2000 A.D. (2KAD) -> abbreviation needs proof. Abyss (AYS) -> abbreviation needs proof. Invalid: Acme -> should be ACME Last edited by PandMonium; 01 November 2008 at 19:02. |

really nice work
will look at your new screen shots now and complete my list with it btw i think you forgot the last post by maimai that may came to here since it has an attachment too. ("CFN = Cracking Force Neaples") Anyway there is no set with "CFN" or "Cracking Force Neaples" in Amiga dats and maimai image seems to be from "Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders (1988)(LucasFilm)(It)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr]" so i guess its a new group that will appear in the next dat and its good to have it verified now |

Just the one screenshot here..
There are versions of Shadowgate that have been renamed incorrectly, which I have fixed. There are some cracked by ABC though. They are different in game as the UnitA crakcs say "cracked by UnitA" in game, where-as these ABC cracks don't! Screenshot Last edited by BippyM; 02 November 2008 at 13:16. |

Hmmm found a trainer that shows ACCESS using the ACS abbreviation! Check the bottom of the screenshot. It says "vampirekiller/acs isn't sleeping now"
and the second is near the top attached Last edited by BippyM; 10 July 2013 at 22:59. |
