CS060 MK1 cpu cooler tape - where to buy?
So the cooler on my 68060 was "glued" to the chip with some kind of metallic (hopefully!) heat-conducting double-sided tape. Possibly correctly named as an adhesive?
Does anyone know where you can get some replacement tape? Just using cooling paste does not hold the cooler properly down as the clamps have too much wiggle room then. |

I think you're looking for something like this - Double Sided Thermal Tape.

Possibly. Says it is fiberglass. But too small for the 68060 really, which I measured to be 46x46m.

Just be aware that the problem with most/any of these thermal tapes is that they suck as far as thermal conductivity. They are very convenient, but you do pay for it dearly.

You can get 2-component heat-conducting glue for attaching heatsinks..

I have done some testing for work purposes and the difference between good tape (super thin stuff) and actual heatsink compound was about 1-2 degrees C. Of course this will likely depend somewhat on the temperatures and materials involved etc., but if paste is inconvenient, tape not a bad option. The stuff was Bergquist branded IIRC.

I ended up ordering something from a Norwegian webshop - I'll see what it is like. It was cheap enough.

I just ordered some double sided thermal take but only plan on using it for small heatsinks on chips, not for a CPU. I will just use them paste for that.
