Well, all I have is a green GT 65 monitor, a CPC464 broken board and 50+ original tapes.
CPC version of Salamander was too hard and slow My favourite game: La Abadia del Crimen Attachment Removed Last edited by Ian; 29 December 2001 at 20:17. |

When I played it more than ten years ago was slow as hell (that's what I remember) and after playing MSX version,....
La Abadia del Crimen is based in the book from Umberto Ecco 'The Name of the Rose' and you'll need spanish knowledge and a lot of patience |

When Uukrul says "A lot of patience" he actually means "A LOOOOOTTTT of patience"
The CPC version looks better than the MSX version Now I also wanna see shots of Salamander for the CPC (I STILL have to get a CPC emu.. I think I''ll do it as soon as I finish reading the new posts here) |

It looks A LOOOOOTTTT better
I posted a screenshot of Salamander in the other cpc thread. And if you want the best cpc emu try Caprice32 v1.10 (newer versions are crappy, specially W95 version) |

I've downloaded Caprice32 V1.10 and 3.00 (I had a voice telling me I should get 1.10, because 3.00 should be crap.. and it seems like I was right ), and No$CPC (Because I like a lot those NO$ emulators, and the CPC one was the 1st one he started working, and he have been working on it since 1995, so it HAS to be good)
I'll get Winape32 too... I also downloaded lots of games, still have to test them and the emulators.. Do u guys recommend me any CPC games? (Mainly CPC ONLY games? ) |

Well, not really a CPC-ONLY game, but a game that looks best on CPC (compared to C64 Version) is GRYZOR which is one of my favs .... and here´s a list of other good games I love playing on my CPC
- Monty on the Run - Tai-Pan - Carrier Command (cause of this game I bought an Amiga that days ) - Wild Bunch (kinda Carmen-Sandiego-Style in Wild West ) - Prohibition (bang peng kawoom ) - Jack the Nipper - Star Raiders II - Booty (I LOVE this one ) - Nemesis the Warlock (blood gore ) - Country Cottages - Hanse - Starglider Well, there are more, but thats enough to begin with I think |

I had already downloaded Jack the Nipper, as I rather liked the MSX/Spectrum version of this game (Although the sequel sucks)
And of course, I already downloade every Monty game I could find too Tai-Pan got some good reviews in MSX magazines (and it was probably a Spectrum port, I can't remember), but for some reason I never got that game. Now it's time I've just seen the screenshots of Nemesis & Salamander in the 8-bits SOB thread, and I must admit I was rather dissapointed. I thought the CPC was closer to the MSX than the C64 when talking about graphics. But I haven't seen it moving yet, and gfx doens't matter, so 8 bits enough ! Oh yeah, I nearly forgot, thx Retroman, for that list |

I'd check these out too
Renegade
Gryzor (again, yes, but it was terrific) Bruce Lee (!) BombJack (nice port) Yie Ar Kung Fu Prohibition (iirc - the game where you had to move a crosshair through a town and shoot gangsters. There also was a similar game, set in space) Wonderboy SabreWulf! and some isometric game with a guy changing into a werewolf Now that I come to think of it, I mainly played arcade ports at the time... (also: Green Beret) |

Can you please filter these lists and post only CPC-ONLY games? This was a shame with teh CPC IMO, it got very few EXCLUSIVE games.
I remember one where you were kind of a bouncy ball and you had to finish the level, kind of a puzzler.. what's its name? GREAT game! By Loriciel methinks. It had a sequel too. |

Most 8 bits games from french companies (Loriciels, Infogrames, Ere, Microids) were CPC exclusive.
That Loriciel game is Bumpy and the sequel Bumpy's Arcade Fantasy (there is an Amiga version of this sequel , so if you're interested I'll upload it) Attachment Removed Last edited by Ian; 29 December 2001 at 20:18. |

Yes, this is an Ere game and btw it has very bad graphics.
Only spanish companies, Ocean, Hewson and a few others did great graphics for the CPC. Mode 0 well used gives perfect graphics but lazy programmers only did crappy spectrum conversions |
