indivision AGA 1200

Is it worth getting if you already have a monitor with scart input?
Does it speed up the graphics?
Does it have chunky pixel mode or something like that?

I've been thinking about getting one, but just dont know if it would be worth getting for me or if i should rather focus on getting a fast ide controller or something like that.

Hope that someone can give me some sort of insight on the subject

Regards
Nikolaj

It won't speed up graphics and no chunky mode yet (and although one *may* come out one day.......don't hold your breath).

It really depends on what you want to do with your Miggy and if you're happy with your current display. I'm using it to run WB in 1024x768 (thanks to HighGFX) on a 19" CRT and it looks great but each to their own.

It is academic because Indivision AGA A1200 is no longer on sale except second hand.

If your monitor already looks really good in SCART mode and you are not particularly a workbench user then you probably don't need one.

I wouldn't even bother getting a fast IDE controller either. Try a new file system first (SFS) and a solid state disk such as an IDE->CF adapter or IDE->SD adapter.

I would recommend to get the fastest accelerator you can afford. Apollo / Blizzard 060@50 or faster. So you can try all the 060 demos.

On www.vesalia.de I read this:

Indivision AGA 1200/4000T, 'flickerfixer' (aka de-interlacer) for Amiga 1200/Amiga 4000T
This product is currently not available (ETA: 2010).

Will there be a new batch? Is this true or not?

I'm already using SFS on my harddrive (8 GB seagate microdrive)
Also just fixed up an apollo 1260 which i bought as non working.
Can only say that i just love EAB... without it, my amiga would probably have been sold off again and my marriage in ruins

My main purpose with the amiga is to whdload, but would be nice if i could get it online as well.
would also be nice to be able see how fair i could actually push a desktop amiga, just to show off a bit in front of my friends who gave up amiga many years ago (which i did also )

In my opinion - if you play a lot of games and demos, no. And that's not because it has a fault, but simply because it outputs a 31KHz (PC-monitor compatible) signal.

LCD monitors will give you variable fps with 60 Hz update of 50 fps graphics (shadowsmearing and jerky scrolling), and CRTs likewise - but if you can go 100 Hz on a CRT, you will get perfect picture and scrolling, just a small scrollshadow.

But if you have CRT that can go down to 50 Hz, it's excellent and the only difference is that the pixels are 'doubled', so in lores games, they look more square.

If you mostly use Workbench, it's completely the opposite - with a sharp LCD and hires, it looks very very nice and it feels like a super upgrade of the whole computer, just like when you buy an LCD for a PC

No, not the versions made so far. Future versions will likely have extra modes like on the Indivision ECS. If a new batch is made.

I have one for sale if you decide you want one, from the facts above.

The "next batch" of Indivision AGA boards A1200 are supposed to include a physical redesign to allow it to fit in an A4000T.

Just for curiousity, what it looks like. But now back into 50 Hz as I moved into LCD era. But probably I don't ditch my old tube. Don't even know how many different screenmode.prefs I have on different boot partitions (with varying refresh rates) - I think they never get altered to fit into my LCDs refresh window. The only I have done partly was tedious enough.
