I was referring to the Kickstart roms. The CD/DVD pressing doesn't cost much, maybe the AF2008 player and the artwork stuff cost a bit. Well i have paid for both and i own them now. AF2008 and C64 Forever.

I'm good friends with Michael and I saw his video in vimeo on c64 forever. I'm not a c64 fan though, but I think the Retroplatform is a promising technology to reach the nongamers and fans who prefer to just play the games and not think about tinkering with files. Cloanto has now two product lines of retrocomputing preservation.
I think they will be successful in opening up a market with this retroplatform. I just hope that the games in the future should still be in Abandonware. |

Darwin (open source) was used as a foundation and Aqua as a interface. Amiga Forever uses Winuae (open source) because it is very stable. but they use The Player as an interface for the newbies, nongamers, and those who are laxed gamers. Similar to Nintendo as well, but they took Gamecube technology, upd it twice, added a motion remote and channels. People bought it. Its really how that market nowadays work. Many Amiga people think that Cloanto is evil. But I think really they are not. At least you paying for Amiga ROMS, your supporting the Amiga Community rather than stealing from it. But thats just my opinion. |

What exactly do i support with a Cloanto CD? I don't get it. Cloanto is not part of any Amiga community.

Hmm, makes me wonder how many other Windows Amiga emulators they could choose Well Toni and Cloanto seem to get along quite well, so nothing to worry about there. Paying 30 € for the roms and a frontend is a bit steep, don't you think?

I have some problems finding original c64 games - most of them are cracked. So how are the games included: cracked or original? I read that we can upload more games via c64 forever - again - originals or cracked?

The ULTIMATE C64 Tape Page C64Games.de (select 'Search' on the left-hand menu, set the 'Filetyp' to either 'Originale' or 'Tapes', then click the button afterwards to produce a list of original disks or tapes.) Elysium FTP's C64 collection (HTTP mirror, but with not as many games as the FTP) And lastly, the current Gamebase 64 V5 set has a big set of originals in its Extras section (which is 3GB+). You just need to find a torrent site which hosts said set. I got mine from Underground Gamer, personally. |

As for supporting the Amiga Community, I do not see in anyway whatsoever how buying kickstart roms is supporting the community. |

But... erm... wait... you would... no, doesn't make sense. Maybe... no. There must has to be a connection between the 'community' and buying the kickstart roms... Money! Yes, money Uhm, you mean like the 'community' gets something back from buying the licensed kickstarts? Guess you got a point there. Maybe mcb can tell us something about his plans?

No worries! Glad to help out!
Although I just remembered another useful source: you can go to PlanetEmu and check out their G64s, D64s and TAPs. There's a chance you might find something they have that others don't! (For instance, they seem to host a G64 of Smash TV which doesn't seem to exist in any of the other sources listed above). Last edited by MethodGit; 04 June 2009 at 21:34. |

Create a .zip archive (with the rp2-manifest.xml too) and rename it to .rp2. At least what the Amiga Forever site says.
