Thanks mate.

The original MIDI did not use much more than 20, and the XMs are 32. There is some room for improvement. Also the mods, sorry for that, do not have the same quality as the XMs and mixing the two would at least sound weird. It's more a problem of consistency in polyphony than in used formats. |

Then i will continue to work on mods and then there could be an option where people could decide to use xm or mods according to their horsepower.

Going to put here a status update for the mod demake of the musics of Heroes of Might and Magic II to be used in Meynaf Amiga port on June 14 2016:
explaination: drafting = the song melody is not complete refining = the song melody is complete but instruments or some parts are not right done = the song is considered complete in melody and correct instruments * = might be subsceptible of improvements - Main theme > drafting - Freedom theme > drafting - Archibald theme > refining - Grassland theme > DONE - enemies lurking > DONE - Sea theme > - Combat 1 > - Combat 2 > drafting - combat 3 > refining - Snow theme > DONE - Sands theme > DONE - hidden jungle > drafting - wasteland theme > drafting - dirt theme > drafting - mountain of fire > refining - jungle theme > drafting - City of necromancer > DONE* - City of knights > drafting - City of wizards > drafting - Game Over (campaign lost)> drafting started - End of Game (campaign won)> not started Price of Destiny: - City of Barbarian > drafting - City of Sorceress > not started - City of the Warlock > not started Last edited by saimon69; 30 November 2016 at 01:05. Did a good deal of work on City of the necromancer tune: still a bit fat (360k) and in need of some detailing but we are almost there...

I have played (ahem) extensively HOMM3 on pc (hundreds and hundreds of hours); and I've just discovered this thread, I'm new to the amiga platform (I had a ST before going to PC/workstations) and I have read most of the comments on this thread and downloaded version 0.4; I don't have an amiga now, but I'm hoping to try this on uae or, preferably, on mist; if that works well, I think I'll just replace my current gaming platform with either an amiga or the mist itself. Wish me good luck.

I've downloaded homm2.lzx but I would much prefer an adf, would someone be able to make one for me; I'm not amiga savvy...
Also, because it's the MIST, I'm not sure if floppies above 900kb would work, and the homm2 executable is a little bit bigger than that, so ideally I would need an adf with the homm2 executable compressed and the decompresser on the same floppy; because the mist doesn't have serial ports, and I can't make a directory on the sd card appear on workbench (no fat driver there). I would then be able to copy and uncompress it to a MIST virtual drive, where I installed workbench 3.1; if my logic is correct. Thanks in advance, pm me if you wish to send me this over email. Somebody was nice enough to provide me with an adf file with the two executable compressed; thank you Alastair.
Now when I start homm2; it says something like "file not found data/heroes2.agg"; where can I find this file? Finally, are more files expected? |

[cold shower mode on]
The main data file (data/heroes2.agg) is around 40MB (43 317 863 bytes in the version i currently use). Perhaps this doesn't fit on adfs. The anim files are something like 100MB. Therefore the game can only work from hard drive. And, no, i don't distribute these data files because the game isn't abandonware. [cold shower mode off] Sorry... |

the boring music chronicle continues; after several attempt in reducing the size of the City of the Necromancer mod file i decided that the size of 350k is the best i could get until i find better sound reduction tools and consider this song complete for now.
Some more refining in sea theme, however harp is not as good as i would like. |

You can still buy game on gog.com. It cost 10E, but sometimes they have sale off and you will be able to buy it for 2-4E. But I didn't test this version with meynaf exec. |

Normally all files are compatible across versions, even saved games.
